  • NON-working codes found

I found that the following codes do NOT work on ANY GBA system or emulator:

Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island (USA)

    Lava Doesn't Kill You
    DD8B151F 4D4EBEAA
    65DA389A 09D8882C

I decrypted this code with the latest ARCrypt software, and this is what I got:
    00000000 1C0714CC
    000046C0 00000000

That looks like a fake code to me. Trust me--a long time ago (many, many moons ago) I used to have a GameBoy Advance. The above code NEVER worked--not even on any emulator I ever tried it on! Could someone please post an actual, working code that makes you immune to lava on SMA3? I would LOVE to be able to beat that irritating "Poochy Ain't Stupid" level. And please, for the love of all gamers everywhere, STOP posting fake codes!
    Tempus fugit, ergo, carpe diem.

Time flies, therefore, seize the day.

Boy, good thing you posted that angry emoticon in your topic title, otherwise I would have never known you were pissed!!

It's not a fake code, it's a rom patch code. I'll look into it for you.

I made two threads and I got no reply ? I didn't want to get in trouble by posting the same question?? Should I still post my non working codes??

0x46C0 is the 16-bit value for a NOP in Thumb ASM. I highly doubt that someone would go as far as debugging to create a "fake code". It may have been overlooked.

Nolberto created codes for this game so maybe you should use these codes instead.
I only bother with things that interest me.

The address it is trying to patch the NOP to is 0x80E2998. Try doing it manually. I can't find a save state and don't want to play through the game to find lava.

I'll test it if you give me a mess nvram, or maybe a VBA sav that works, that I can easily get to some lava.

If you go to http://gamehacking.org/?sys=gba and input the code in the code converter, select ar v3/4, and hit convert, the site will tell you the type of code, and the address/value combination. I went ahead and played the game until lava to test it, I wrote the value to the address using the mess debugger, and the code works. Yoshi just hops around on the lava. Here's a picture for proof:

You can see in the memory viewer that the value was written to the address specified by the code, so it does work. The only reason I can think of it not working, is that there is a hardware mismatch somewhere, or it's not being entered right in into the emulator in its encrypted state.

Also, I saw here (http://gamehacking.org/?sys=gba&id=6161) that nolberto82 has an "Invincible Lava" code. Chances are if nolberto82 hacked it, it's a great code. I'll check it out and report back in this post. Feel free to visit that link, select the codes you want, and export the VBA file to test them.

Edit: It's the same effect as the other, but without the annoying noise yoshi makes. So of course, nol's code is always an improvement. BTW, don't press down while you're bouncing around on the lava or you'll stomp yourself into death.

I didn't realize you already had a thread, so you didn't need to post here. The reason you're probably not getting help is because not a lot of people around here get into ps2 stuff as much. You might have better luck at CMP.

I'd hazard a guess and say he's likely using that code on the non-GH version of the game or the wrong region. One of those two covers about 99% of all PS2 CB code problems. Of course, there is always the chance that CMX or whoever hacked that game (I honestly can't be bothered to look) made a mistake.

The "Master Code" in Side Pocket for the Genesis doesn't work. Is there any way to make it so the balls always go in for the Let's Challenge mode? I can't beat this one level and it's driving me insane, and it's required to beat the game.
The "Always Advance to Next Level" code also doesn't work either, as the game keeps sending me back a level whenever I can't beat the Let's Challenge stage.
