  • Waterworld "Test Mode" Found (Genesis)

In the proto game "Waterworld" for Sega Genesis, there is a known password (ATADNGISED) that activates the Cheat Mode and gives you access to all the levels.

There is another password: "TESTING123" that I found in the ROM, but it has been disabled. I searched with Google for 20 minutes and didn't find any mention of it anywhere, so I'm hoping it's previously undocumented.

If you try entering TESTING123 as a password, it rejects it. To enable it, use this code/ROM hack: $0015AC:1D15 (Game Genie = CYLT-B4FN). Now the password will be accepted and it says "TEST MODE ACTIVE".

The Test Mode was definitely designed for developers. It basically 'auto-finishes' each level for you. I don't remember seeing this type of developer's tool in a game before. Kind of interesting.

How cool. I played one of those ports that turned out to be cancelled. Might of been the Genesis version.

      Very interesting find Tone
Now broadcasting from the underground command post. Deep in the bowels of a hidden bunker. Somewhere under the brick & steel of a nondescript building. We've once again made contact w/ our leader, OSG

The Genesis version was canceled, although the SNES version was released. The Genesis version seems fairly complete to me. Not sure why it was canceled.

Anyways, I added the find to TCRF.net
