  • Code Request: Sega Genesis "Sword of Vermilion"

While I was able to hack a lotta codes for Genesis "Sword of Vermilion", I'm unable to hack a "Caves Always Illuminated" code. I figured that I could simply find a value that changed between entering the cave while it's dark, and after using the Luminos spell, or a Lantern, but no dice. Help, Please?

Also, I was never very good at "walking thru walls" codes. Can someone hack a "Walking Thru Cave Walls" code?

Tony already made a Walk Thru Walls code here http://gamehacking.org/?s=v2&sys=8&gid=11117 , as for the code for the illumination could you post a save state of being outside a cave for easier hacking.

      Sure! here ya go! (Attachments)

Tony's "walk thru walls" code worx fine in towns, but I wonder if he or anyone else could hack one for walking thru barriers, etc. on the maps or in caves.

These save states are in the first cave in the game, outside the town of Wyclif, before and after casting the "luminos" spell, without the hero's taking one step inside the cave.

THANX, Helder! Worx fine! Saves the sometimes-onerous task of casting Luminos every time the hero enters a cave, especially if we accidentally back him out as we try to advance!

BTW, I'm using the Fusion emu, and that's where the save states came from.

Funny-I can now come up with your code when I use the Fusion codefinder. I musta been doing something a little wrong before.

            Again....THANKS!

Phil, finally figured out the WTW code. There is one "feature" (A.K.A. side effect) that is actually kind of cool. If (and only if) you walk all the way to the very edge of the screen and keep going, you will turn up at the opposite end of the screen, and will have warped to another area. Very cool for exploring. Using your save state (which also works with Gens BTW), I walked all the way to the top of the screen, kept going and tuned up at the bottom of the screen. The cave looked the same, but when I used the exit, I came out in a different map. If you want to avoid this "feature", just don't walk past the edge of the screen.

But in the overworld map there are times you walk off the edge and the game send you to the opposite side of the map screen which I'm sure is a new map shown. Phil try using the Gens Hacker version to hack codes it works alot better than Fusion's crappy cheat tool, the download is here on the site's Download Section. A little side effect of playing the game on the Gens Hacker version is that you can see the whole map on the right hand side instead of a circle around your character and the rest of the map blanked out, also the save states from the 2 emulators are interchangeable like Tony said.

Thanx again, Tony and Helder! The ONLY hitch I've found with Tony's "walk thru walls in caves, etc" is that U must be facing the wall U wanna walk thru. Small price to pay for eliminating a lotta tedious spinning, turning, etc. to reach an objective, especially when all that tedium doesn't contribute to gameplay or the storyline.

I shall try the Gens hacker. I have a new PC & I'm still transferring stuff to it from my old one, but I lost some items in the process. (New PC has Intel Core i7, is 64 bit, 8 GZ RAM, 2 TB storage!)
