  • Increase time in NWC 1990 NES rom?

Nintendo World Championships 1990 rom. There is no way I'm going to pay over $500 for ANY game and I'd like it to run on FCEU (on my Xbox) with the same time limit as the version I played at the actual competition. (I was only a quarter finalast.)

The game consists of Super Mario Bros., Rad Racer, and Tetris. The actual cartridge (of which only around 200 were made) has dip switches to adjust the overall time of the 3 combined games. I think default time setting is 5 minutes, but I want to try to make it the I think 7 minutes it was at the competition, or maybe unlimited time. In case people aren't familar with it, you play SMB until you get 50 coins, move onto Rad Racer, finish one race, then play Tetris until your time expires. You can barely make it into Tetris with the default timer. I've tried creating codes using FCEU's code creator thingie but nothing worked. Any ideas on how to accomplish this? Thanks!

This isn't the right place for this type of info. Making Game Genie codes is about micro-managing the game's code in a specific way. What you want is a 'ROM Hacking' forum, where it's about large-scale editing projects that can range from a few bytes to several hundred KB in ROM changes to get the desired effect. The project you're intending to do will probably range in the KB spectrum of ROM changes.

Opps! Sorry about that. I just did a google search for NES hacking forums and it took me to this board. Didn't realize it was only for codes. My post has been edited with a relavent question I think now.

I've been studying, testing, and generally getting nowhere...

I'm sure there's some command I could use to set the dip-switches using game code, but I just don't know what command it would be...

I know it can be done in some way, but browsing the source code and trying to make sense of this thing just isn't working.

You may want to try 'Nester' with it's most updated mappers if you want to use this game in it's Dip-Switched form. Apparently, that emulator fully supports the mapper.

Yeah, and this thing don't even run in FCEUXD. All you get is the title screen. I'll have to download Other emulators or something.

Hiro, setup controller 2 in the FCE(U)(XD)(SP) emulator you're using, and press 'Start' on controller 2.

Alternately, I made this code(since I had a few minutes to kill):
            Automatically Start Game: AEXEGYAP

Thanks, the Code got the game started. I did about 2 cheat searches. I guess the code is out of range of anything FCEUXD can find, cause I came up with now infinite timer code. I did get a couple codes for SMB and it froze that games timer, and stopped all animation but marios, and a no music code. Maybe I'll post those later, but I didn't find what I was looking for. Looks like it's up to Uge.

BTW, do you still get on yahoo Ugetab? We shoudl chat again sometime. I finally got my net connection back so I can use the Yahoo messenger again.
