  • My N64 GS is acting 'fritzy' anyone know how to fixx?

Okay not a code post, N64 is and has always been waaay beyone me, and not a code request, sorry also, still gotta get my GS for N64 to 'work'

It once did fine, now I turn it on and well the game loads up that is on top of it all by itself, no GS screne or nothing. Anyone know 'how' or what to do with it o make it 'work' again? any cleaning methods or such?

To be honest I think I got the thing hung up on one of those key codes thingies, stupid mess of a device would only work with a certain game if you set it to a certain key code first, well I did that once a while back and ever sense then it does as I said.

So anyway throwing some 'business' towards the N64 hacking, not as you would want but heck if this thing is fried, well N64 hacking and code topics are out for me anyway, darn shame a few great games for this system, but without a cheat device and none ever on the market anymore (well for those cheap prices) I may have fixxed my N64 a grave already. :?

    Some frequently asked Gameshark questions.
I did some looking and found this:
    The html address is:http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/gen...topic=26372049
By the way, I don't own a N64 myself but I still owe you a favour.

Q: I changed the bootcode in my Gameshark and now no games work anymore, what do I do?

A: You could try it with games that have the same boot code as the one you changed it to, for a full US bootlist see: http://www.elitendo.com/n64/usa_boot_save_list.html

Usually when no games seem to boot with the Gameshark anymore it helps to just remove the Gameshark and everything attached to it from the n64 and then try again with a game like Super Mario 64.

If you have another Gameshark that is the same version as the one you have, you could put that one in the n64, the broken Gameshark on top of that and a game on top of that. Now change something like adding a new code and save. Now the broken Gameshark gets re-flashed and the bootcode will be the same as the working one. Don't start the game with two Gameshark's in the n64 though.

Another thing you can do if you have a Gameshark that's not the same version as the one you have, but is at least 3.2, is set it up as mentioned above and connect the working Gameshark to the pc with a parallel cable. Now use a program called GSCC2K2 to update it. The broken Gameshark will now get re-flashed in the process and will have the bootcode reset to default.

Let us know what game you are using, that can help. But I am guessing that the game you are using probably needs a keycode. The keycode is completely different from a master code I believe. It's not something you can enter like in a game name, its on the main menu. So first thing you should do is put in a common game like SM64 so that the GS will boot up. The after that you can choose a keycode, there will probably be only about 5 of them, so you choose one of them and after it's chosen you are told to insert the game then turn the power back on. If the game don't boot up on the first keycode change then you just put your SM64 back in and change the keycode again. Repeat till you find which one you need for the game.

You know...it's been ten months since she made this request...and she recently decided to pick a verbal fight with your truly, which she started to lose and then forfeited by not replying, heh. While she's perfectly welcome to stay here, I think that even if she did decide to show her face, she wouldn't care about this topic anymore...though that's pure speculation until she says otherwise, heh.

Well if the fight is over, then try not to start it back up.
You're an admin, you're meant to stop arguments, not start them.
It doesn't matter if it's ten months or ten years, she might still want help.

Is this the thread that fight was in? I didn't even realize how old the topic was. Since someone else replied I thought it was a brand new topic.

              Nah it wasn't this one.
I took a break for month or something, I never seen or heard of the fight till today.
