He sent me the same PM. I came up with the same codes you did, plus these:

    Start with 9 lives
    PAXKPGLE

    Start with 25 lives.
    PPXKPGLE

NOTE: I haven't tested these codes yet, but they should be OK. I'll test them within the next couple days. EDIT: Tested out okay.

EDIT: Hey BTS, did you notice that the game has a separate routine for subtracting a life when you first start the game? Don't see that very often.

No Tony, I didn't notice, but that's very odd. There must have been a good reason for it, although I can't figure out what it could be It was strange enough to have a separate routine for losing a life in a dogfight, and another for losing a life to the sea when you don't make the runway. (On a side note, I was able to land on that sucker about 5 times )

Just wondering, is there any reason my codes weren't added to the database? Same goes for the Cybernoid cheats I posted a while back... they were never added

Added these. Could you link me to the other thread?

No prob. What's funny is that as I was looking for games to hack, the Top Gun cartridge that I own was the lone game on my desk staring at me. It never occurred to me that it might not have infinite lives. Actually, now that I think about it, I might have requested that code to somebody a long time ago and they said they couldn't make it. Well, I'm glad to see you were able to make it.

On a side note, I was able to land on that sucker about 5 times
My whole life I was never able to land safely on the aircraft carrier. The only times I were successful were out of pure luck. Then a few months ago, I was going through all my NES games and making sure that I had beat every one... and Top Gun was one of the few games I hadn't beat yet. So I went online and went to GameFAQs to figure out how to land safely on the aircraft carrier. Once I learned what speed I had to beat at and learned how to do it, I am now able to land safely each time. Without knowing that information, it's very difficult to land safely unless you get lucky.

There's also another game from even further back, but I'll need to update its codes first, since they were created before I was aware of FCEUX's compare byte issue.

edit: Would it be easier for you if I started a megathread for my codes ?

To be honest, I wasn't having to play through each time just to get to the aircraft carrier. I had a save state set right before landing, so I could find the relevant infinite lives cheat.

All the information you need is right there in the middle of the screen (see attached). It took a while to figure out that A speeds you up, and B slows you down. I still can't land every time, since the up/down left/right tolerances are very low.

Yep... it would be more organized, less clutter, and easier to remember if your codes were added.

A simple thread named "BeyondTheStatic's Retro Codes" or something will do just fine.
