  • Pro Action ROCKY cheat codes for the NES (Not to be mistaken with Pro Action REPLAY)

Has anyone of you guys ever tried making any Pro Action Rocky cheat codes for NES games?

Does anyone know of a Pro Action ROCKY cheat code database? I tried searching the web for such a database, but no dice.

I think that we might have some games in our GSHI's "BSFree2 Code Database" that has a few Pro Action Rocky cheat codes. They are marked "PAR" in an orange text color. But I am confused because alot of those codes only have 4 digits to them. Examples:

    http://gamehacking.org/?s=bsfree2&sys=2&gid=5023

    http://gamehacking.org/?s=bsfree2&sys=2&gid=5035

    http://gamehacking.org/?s=bsfree2&sys=2&gid=5024

    http://gamehacking.org/?s=bsfree2&sys=2&gid=5034

    What the hell? http://gamehacking.org/?s=bsfree2&sys=2&gid=5009

There are many more examples in the database. And the codes that do have 8 digits to them, they do not appear to work. Such as Duck Hunt, Hook, and Cobra Triangle:

    http://gamehacking.org/?s=bsfree2&sys=2&gid=5002

    http://gamehacking.org/?s=bsfree2&sys=2&gid=5012

    http://gamehacking.org/?s=bsfree2&sys=2&gid=5024

Every Pro Action Rocky cheat code I have tested, does not appear to work.

Pro Action Rocky? Never heard of such thing.

PAR means Pro Action Replay, which are just normal emu codes too.

Those codes in your first example are incorrect, which is why the BSFree database hasn't been completely ported over to the main site. And the 8-digit codes in your second example should be correct, all you have to do is remove the two zeroes from the start.

    For example, 0000BA03 turns into 00BA 03

Chip 'N Dale: Rescue Rangers (PAR)

      Name Code
      Invulnerable To Attack 00021Ø18
      Infinite Lives 0005B682
      Ø is minor script error.

      Invulnerable To Attack
      0021 18
      Infinite Lives
      05B6 82

Thank you both for your replies.

So the game entries marked "PAR" in an orange text color are Pro Action Replay? I thought they were Pro Action Rocky because the game entries marked "Emulator PAR" are Pro Action Replay. But I guess they are both Pro Action Replay in which the latter only works in emulators.

Yeah, that was the website that I was reading information about Pro Action Rocky. I didn't realize there was a database on that site though. Thanks.

Has any GSHI member ever tried hacking Pro Action Rocky cheat codes? Probably not. I think it's kind of cool... it's like the unknown Japan's version of the Game Genie. Even alot of skilled and experienced cheat code hackers have never heard of it... let alone hacked codes with it.

The website now seems to have support for the Pro Action Rocky format. Just have to select that format and it converts them. I made a wiki page based on info from that link too.

Isn't the pro action rocky just another way to encrypt game genie codes?

I don't know, I didn't look into if it alters ROM or RAM, or both. It came out way in 2003, long after Famicoms life. Perhaps you can try converting a few codes and seeing if they change ROM ande RAM.

Those things are pretty rare to find probably. I dunno if you ever heard of the RetroUSB AVS clone NES console but it's gonna have action rocky code support. Also raw support, which should be good too.
