NEStopia noob question - hex edit

I'm having a hard time figuring out how to apply the hex code changes in NEStopia. Specifically, how to add/apply them correctly. Unlike the Game Genie codes, which are easy to copy-paste, I suspect I'm doing something wrong with the hex codes. I'm sure someone out there has experience in using them, and I would appreciate any insight into what I am doing wrong. Thanks in advance.

Might I suggest FCEUX as it has all the best debugging tools and hex cheat searching tools out of the NES emulators, it even has a nice Hex Editor which basically a memory viewer that you can see and change any value on the fly.

I suspect he wants to use Nestopia and not FCEUX.
