  • New Code for Sega Genesis Sword of Vermilion

All Towns Available with Aries spell
    FFC40D:000?
    (Replace "?" with-)
    0000-Wyclif
    1-Parma
    2-Watling
    3-Deepdale
    4-Stow
    5-blank
    6-Keltwick
    7-Malaga
    8-Barrow
    9-Tadcaster
    A-Helwig
    B-Swaffham
    C-Excalabria
    D-Hastings
    E-blank
    F-Cartahena
(Note:At the start of the game, use each value for this code code ONE AT A TIME; it'll look like the entrance to Wyclif when you arrive at each destination. Step in & out of the town; you need not speak to anyone. When you return to the Aries spell, you'll see each town in the town select window. Remember to DC each value when done, and ALL of them, the whole code, once U you have every town in the town select window. Also, you can select any town already in the town select window when casting Aries, & it'll take U to the town for which U have the code activated. With the whole code off, it'll send U to the town selected as per normal.)

There MIGHT be one code to start with all towns available, to save all the trouble of using the above. I hope I've supplied a database for anyone wishing to find such a code. I'll try as I find time. Thanx & good luck!

I don't mean to jack your thread Phil, but I just found this code in an old text file I made from my Sega Genesis Collection (PS2) hacking days. I'm not too familiar with the game to test it all the way through. So, those of you familiar with the game can improve it (if necessary).

Thanx, Hacc! Feel free to post any other codes U have for this game in this thread. I make codes only for the enjoyment of all, nothing personal. I can check your code in a few days; when I do, I'll post the results in this thread.

Could a Chronicler please enter my codes into the database?

You referenced equipment codes...I didn't see these in the main code section and don't see posts related to equipment modifiers.. I managed to find the addresses but I can only get them to work if I first buy equipment then replace the values. When I modify the equipment slot # to 1, it tells me I have no equipment. I'll probably have to do a save state hex edit to see what this value is doing. Tonight!

Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you. I really wish I had searched for this forum earlier! I hacked nearly all of these same codes on my own like a dummy! Even the code to open all towns with aries and make inaudios last forever... oh well... I'll see what new codes I can contribute... Thank you!!!!

Thinking about searching for the value that eliminates all random battles. After you defeat Tsarkon, all monsters are gone. I'll try a search before and after defeating him. So if I can find that value, it might work to permanently eliminate random battles. I just wonder if setting that value will eliminate bosses too...

For some reason, different emulators seem to use different codes. Try either for each and see which works. Please confirm if they work for you.

FFC20C:000F No Random Battles Ever (GENS)
FFC68E:000F No Random Battles Ever (FUSION)

Couple of other promising values... (Fusion)
FFC665:00XX This is the characters vertical placement on the overworld map.
FFC664:0003 Everywhere you turn is a cave entrance.
FFC667:00XX This determines the next screen you'll be in when you leave the current screen. For example FFC667:000A Walk straight down from Wyclif and over one screen and you'll end up right in front of Stow.

I've found that many Genesis games operate thusly, that you must have an item in an item slot before you can modify the value with a code to have the item(s) you want. There are a few SNES games that are likewise.

BTW, if you use the 'stats' codes for SOV, you'll be in 'god' mode regardless of what weapon you use, & can clear any screen of enemies in nothing flat while taking no damage.

Now, if you can hack some "walk through walls" codes......

I think the address for vertical (and soon horizontal) placement may have some promise with walking through walls. I just cant seem to find the address that indicates a collision (something in the way). As far as random battles...I just wanted to find a no random battles code that required no action on the users part. I think I've found it.

I tried to hack the Walk Through Walls code but there is a check when you move and when you don't being constantly checked, and when I made it skip a check it just made character move to the right uncontrollably but went thru everything, might be a tough one to hack.

Are there any tutorials around here on making those types of hacks? Those types require the debugger don't they? Setting breakpoints and such to see how values are moved around? That's how codes like "gain a life instead of lose a life" are hacked, I believe. I'm not versed in coding that way, but would LOVE to learn. So much I would do!!!! I've been using TSearch 1.6 to make these codes using the Fusion emulator. I find TSearch to be more user friendly than built-in address finding tools the emulators come with. TSearch also has a debugger capability, but never really understood how to harness the power! lol Teach!

I use a debugger either Regen and MESS here is the Mess I use in the links below and I have a guide on how to make these cheats but not all games are so easily hacked for this code type or sometimes it seems impossible.

and here is a guide I wrote on the Walk Through Walls using a debugger but its geared more towards the SNES and NES but will apply here as well.
