  • PSX emulator cheat devices

    Just wondering if there are any cheat devices for PSX emus that are a little more efficient then PEC?

    Hey trop, what's up?

    I don't really mess with PSX emus that much, but PSJin, which is the emu used by the TASVideos guys is pretty awesome. I don't know if its based on another emu, but it's super fast and allows you to search for cheats just like FCEUX and SNES9X. It also allows you to record movies, which I think it might be useful for you cartographers out there.

    Download here:

      //Tropicon try ArtMoney:

      You can also find emulator pointers with ArtMoney. See http://www.artmoney.ru/tables/SonyPS...(no%20dma).amt for an example (RMB - "save as")- in this case is a pointer to the beginning of the memory block.

        Hey Ray. Instead of usual mapping this is for an attempt to rip the soundtrack from Grandia. I noticed Ugetab made the codes for this but I didn't have an easy way of putting then in or flipping through them. Thanks for pointing out PSJin, it should be helpful.

        iddqd, so ArtMoney is kind of like Cheat Engine just for games? Thanks this will come in handy.

          Art Money and TSearch are great external cheat searchers, however, I don't think the codes you mention will work with them. You add those cheats to PEC if you want. PSJin will probably let you add those codes too without issues.

            //tropicon, ReyVGM emulator address in ArtMoney matches the address in PSX RAM. ArtMoney emulator address = address in SMD/Genesis Pro Action Replay code.
            But some emulators in which virtual addresses and physical addresses don't match - like Kega Fusion emulator in SMD/Genesis emulation mode. Because Kega Fusion uses reverse bytes order in SMD and Sega Mega CD emulation mode.
            Real Sega Saturn console and Saturn emulator called SSF uses reverse bytes order, and the Saturn emulator calles Yabause uses normal bytes order.

            Attached ArtMoney cheat file for Batman Gotham City Racing (PAL) PSX game, with pointers (see screenshot).

                  //ReyVGM, Sly Hedgehog
                  Zero address

                  NES game console contains main CPU memory 64kB. A popular NES console emulator is VirtualNES. VirtualNES has this 64kB in own process address space. The NES main memory appears in the VirtualNES address space at 0059AAF0 - 005AAAF0. This address 0059AAF0 is zero address of NES. Obviously, ArtMoney has to scan process memory in the address range 0059AAF0 - 005AAAF0. It will be faster "up to" ten times than a full scan. ArtMoney stores emulator addresses (not PC), uses relative addressing, and these addresses don't depend on the emulator type and version. The ArtMoney table will always work on different emulators. "Zero addresses" for different emulators and other emulator information are stored in a file - artmoney.emul. This file stores records that contain the name of a game console, name and version of the emulator, zero address of the emulator, PC address and the size of a memory block.
                  http://www.artmoney.ru/manual/english/emul.htm
                  ArtMoney can select emulator options automatically when loading of ArtMoney table. You can view MD5 file hash in "Process Information" window. You can use any emulator from the list (artmoney.738.emul)

                    Ok I think I basically understand. One thing though, Ray you said PSJin would take those codes but I can't find any way to put codes into it. It's "Cheat Editor" is grayed out.

                      Ah damn, you are right. However, I see an option called "RAM poke", I believe you can enter codes there too.
