  • Colecovision...

Anyone making any COLECOVISION codes? I know that Neal Danner, Frank Groeten, and Patrick Lessard made some cheats for some games, but I cannot get them to come up using the Vcol211A emulator, even though they came with the emu download.
BTW, there's a database included in that download, but I'm not skilled enough to use it.

Yes, I've made a load - along with Stephh - it's in the form of a MESS XML cheat collection:-

Thanx, Pugsy! I knew you'd made a bargeload of MAME codes, but I didn't know you'd made CV codes as well!

Now, if I can only successfully install MESS...I can't find a "mess.exe" folder in Mess 144B-and I've never messed with mess before...

There is a learning curve with MESS, personally I use commandline MESS because I've never liked MESSUI.

If you are capable of using the commandline, let me know and I set up a standalone MESS with all the coleco software list and roms and cheatfile with the correct paths set ready to go so all you'd have to do is to navigate to the MESS folder on the commandline and type something like:-

        MESS coleco scramble

and then it's identical to MAME to use...

        Let me know.

I'd like to use the commandline also, but none of the mess versions I've tried have a "mess.exe" file. I am open to suggestion and advice, as I'm new to Mess, etc.

I've never used MESS neither, but maybe you are downloading the source code and not the binary.

I agree it sounds like you have downloaded the source package.

Anyway, you will have a PM shortly

pugsy, I would like to thank you PUBLICLY for all your help! Your package worx perfectly, and I know you put in a lotta hard work making it whenever you did. Hope to increase my knowledge of Mess over time.
Colecovision was THE gaming console of some 30 years ago; some of its games such as Gorf surpassed the arcade versions.
And, while I'm at it, I'd liketa pass along a thanx and a salute for all the Mame codes you made. I know that took a lotta work also.
And also, HAPPY HOLIDAYS to you & yours! Same for all the other great hackers/gamers here as well, for contributing to a great hobby for young & old alike. (I assume St. Nick and the Easter Buffalo still visit the British Isles, along with Mothman & the Great Pumpkin?)
