  • GS Codes & Requests for Contender - PS1

I've brainstormed a few more ideas for this game:

    1. Rankings modifier (Main Event Mode)

    2. Infinite Time

    3. Players start Main Event Mode with all special punches (no Jackal training sessions) Done (sort of)

    4. Ring / Stage Modifier Done

    5. Challenge any opponent (above or below you) in Main Event Mode

    6. Player 1's Knockdown bar is always full

    7. Player 2's Knockdown bar is always empty (or never fills up)

    8. All players unlocked in Exhibition Mode

    9. A code that eliminates that annoying trainer from shouting things out during your matches.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I never understood why they had so many characters for this game & yet allowed you to only play as 8 of them (16 if you count those on Exhibition Mode). I don't know all of the values yet. As soon as I get the rest of them, I'll post them.

    Player 1 Modifier (Main Event)
    800705D0 00??
NOTE: You'll play as whoever you designate regardless of whoever you choose. Depending on the character you choose, it may freeze at certain points in the game when Jackal is showing you a new punch. I've skipped some values because it makes the boxer screen blank. When you exit from that boxer screen & return to it, its Jon Hawkins. You can also save the other characters & then play as them later with the GS code turned off.
    Values:
    00 - Lewis Hedges
    01 - Henry Slate
02 - Lester "The Animal" Young
    03 - Jon Hawkins
04 - Marvin "The Tank" Woods
    05 - Don Brown
    06 - Jade Van Horne
    07 - Alexa Andersen
    08 - Shin Fu
    09 - Peewee Winston
    0B - Opu Nui
    0C - Benny "Bullet" Bass
    0D - James "Turbo" Jackson
    0E - "Sweet" Justice Ryan
    0F - Lucky Day
    11 - No. 13
    12 - "Johnny Boy" Smith
    13 - Hadji Zair
    14 - Eusibio "Peligro" Pedroza
    15 - Adam Minter
    16 - Dugua
    18 - "Kamikaze" Koga
    19 - "Big Mama" Bates
    1A - Ivan Bane
    1B - Duke Jeffra
    1D - Rob White
    1E - Sonny Lasher
    22 - Pekola Chokola
    23 - "Cannon Ball" Wiseman
    27 - Beastman

Alternate Player 1 Modifier (Main Event)
    80070930 00??
NOTE: This a fixed cursor player modifier.
    Values:
    00 - Lewis Hedges
    01 - Henry Slate
02 - Lester "The Animal" Young
    03 - Jon Hawkins
04 - Marvin "The Tank" Woods
    05 - Don Brown
    06 - Jade Van Horne
    07 - Alexa Andersen

Hacking games is always fun because you don't know what's hidden in the game.

I added to the values to the first character modifier. I'll check & make sure that both are exactly the same before I copy & paste. I still haven't found the values for Jackal & the other exhibition characters. I thought that it was strange that I haven't been able to access them yet. I have checked values 00 - 2F so far. I'll keep going to see if I can come up with the remaining 7 characters. When (or if) I do, I'll add them as well.

      I got more codes:

Player 1 has all special punches
      800529B0 0005
NOTE: This will allow your character to have all 5 special punches at the start of Main Event mode instead of having to go through a Jackal training session to get them. This won't eliminate the Jackal training sessions though.

For the following code, I haven't got the values totally mapped out yet, but I will add them as soon as I find them all:

      Ring / Background Modifier
      800792B8 ??XX
NOTE: The values for "??" seem to affect the ring you're in. "XX" seems to affect the background. Setting "XX" to 00 will cause the game to freeze.

every time a user tries hack a ps1 codes, do not read or follow the codetypes rules

        8 = even address only (ends with 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, A, C, E) and 2 byte values (0000 - FFFF)
        3 = odd address (1, 3, 5, 7, 9, B, D, F) and 1 byte values (00 - FF)

        yours codes should be this

        Player 1 Modifier (Main Event)
        300705D0 00??

Alternate Player 1 Modifier (Main Event)
        30070930 00??

Player 1 has all special punches
        300529B0 0005

        Background Modifier
        300792B8 00XX

        Ring Modifier
        300792B9 00??

I'm not sure I totally understand.

With the ring & background modifiers, I can understand that. That seems to simplify it. I'm not sure why the other codes need to start with a "3" instead of an "8". The others seem to work just fine with the "8".

          Is there something I'm missing?

4 reasons why codetype 3 must be use

            1. your values are 1 byte 00 to FF (less than 255) not 0000 to FFFF (2 byte write)
            2. with 8 your are writing on two addresses, with 3 you are writing on one address
            3. safer to not write null 00 or accidentally write on next address.
            4. its proper to post the code.

            Example

with codetype 8 two address writing (2 byte write) ?? is 000792B9 and XX is 000792B8
            800792B8 ??XX

with codetype 3 single address writing only on 000792B8 without touching 000792B9
            300792B8 00XX

this address ends with odd number 9 which is always codetype 3 and limited to 1 byte only and max of FF
            300792B9 00??
