  • Mortal Kombat Blood Code SNES (GG)

I've had this code stuck in my head for years (since 1993) and maybe you guys can help improve on it. I found it long ago in an GamePro magazine and added a line to it to make the sweat more red.

    Original: DDB4-DD07

    Mine: FDB4-DD07 FDB4-DFA7

Changed the first D to an F and added one more line of code. Doesn't seem like much but it improved the original quite a bit. Problem is, I still see some sweat in my "blood". Can anyone here help me? I've been working on this code for literally over 10 years off and on and haven't gotten anything better!

I am sorry I did not respond sooner on this. I did see other values that I thought would manipulate the RGB of the "gradient sweat", but none of the values I modified around it worked to take the rest of the "sweat" out of the blood. Basically your base address modifies the RGB color of the sweat, but the rest of it (some gradients within it) is modified somewhere else. The routine that colors the "sweat" also colors the characters, projectile colors, etc so manipulation of this routine is a bit difficult without modifying something else all together.

The values positioned around the RGB address (based on your original codes) for sweat had no effect on the gradients within the sweat. I may take a deeper look into this one at a later point when things aren't so hectic around the house.

I took a look at this myself and tried to set a break but came up short of nothing, but now that you mention the sweat pixels that arent changing have a very similar color to the skin tone of the characters.

It seems like I remember reading in GamePro back then (or from some other source) that the they could also turn the sweat or blood into green blood. If it modifies the the color of the sweat, then I'm that's possible.
Hacking games is always fun because you don't know what's hidden in the game.

I've made it purple, baby blue, puke green, etc... but can't seem to make it all red. Those damned grey spots are driving me to an early grave.
