  • GG Codes for The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - SNES

    Hi,

Walk through walls cheats are great, but a more interesting alternative (IMHO) is the ability to destroy the landscape instead. I'd love to make such codes for all games, but not all games support breakable blocks, or if they do, the way to manipulate their behavior is unclear. I wish all systems were as easy to hack as the NES

I couldn't get these working for interior realms. If somebody wants to give it a shot, I won't feel too bad

edit: If you enter the mountainous region with these cheats, the graphics will be slightly glitched. Just enter/exit a cave or dungeon and things will look normal.

    Code:
    Whack Thru Walls in Overworld
    6D87-611E
[B]NOTE: Use your sword to destroy any solid objects outside of dungeons/caves/houses.[/B]

    Bomb Thru Walls in Overworld
    6DA6-01CA
[B]NOTE: Use your bombs to destroy any solid objects outside of dungeons/caves/houses.[/B]

    Hammer Thru Walls in Overworld
    5D82-094E
[B]NOTE: Use your hammer to destroy any solid objects outside of dungeons/caves/houses.[/B]

    Insta Bombs
    FDB4-A43F
[B]NOTE: Bombs detonate almost instantaneously. Use with invincibility.[/B]

    Tossed Objects Stay Active
    FD37-6FF6
[B]NOTE: After you toss a bush/pot/skull/etc., it won't break; you can pick it up and throw it again. Keep too many active in the same screen and things will become slow.[/B]

Awesome codes... very clever and uncommon codes for the best SNES game ever made.

Your (NES) Zelda and (SNES) Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past game genie codes are very original. I like your codes for those games alot.

Is there a "Link walks faster" Game Genie Code for the (SNES) Zelda: A Link to the Past? I know there is a game genie code that makes Link's "Running Boots run 3x faster" but I don't think there is a code that lets Link just walk faster normally. It would be nice to have Link walk as fast as if he was using the "Running Boots". This way you will have more control over Link if you don't have to use the running boots. Because each time you want to change directions while using the running boots, you have to stop, and then turn, and then use the running boots again. Ya know what I mean?

Codes have been added to the database.

I just got this game recently (a real bargain) & have never played it. I've been wanting to try it. One day I will.

Hacking games is always fun because you don't know what's hidden in the game.

Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past = Best SNES game of all-time

I would advise you not to use any cheat codes or walk throughs guides during your first time playing the game. Beat the game first without using any cheat codes or guides. You will appreciate it alot more. After you beat the game without using any cheats or help, then you could use/try out all the cheat codes. That is just my opinion.

I agree completely, though I've only beat the game once, a long time ago.

              Got some more codes:

              Code:
              Walk Faster
              CB33-6FFA
              2B33-6F9A
[B]Note: Does not affect Link on ice, stairs or in deep water. For faster movement on ice, use the "Ice Isn't Slippery" cheat.[/B]

              Walk Much Faster
              CB33-6FFA
              2533-6F9A
[B]Note: Does not affect Link on ice, stairs or in deep water. For faster movement on ice, use the "Ice Isn't Slippery" cheat.[/B]

              Ice Isn't Slippery
              7D2D-6FFA
I'm playing with an event modifier right now, where something dies when you whack grass or a bush. Some strange stuff under there...

You're welcome, OldSchoolGamer. Found something else, thought it might be interesting. It's in HEX (PAR? [!]), and allows you to change the tile revealed under grass and bushes:

                  Code:
                  Tile Under Grass/Bush Modifier
                  1BBEBFA9
                  1BBEC0??
                  1BBEC1??
                  1BBEC2EA
Since the ??, ?? both denote a 16-bit number, charting all of the values is not something I want do. If I had a tile viewer I could just pick and choose what I want, but alas, I don't :/

I don't understand what you mean nor what this code does. What do you mean by "changing the tile under the grass and bushes"? Do you mean if you were to pick up a bush, the ground that was underneath the bush could be changed to a water puddle or a floor surface found in dungeons/houses?

Could you just give an example or two of this code in Game Genie format?

                        Here's a quick example:

                        Code:
Cut Down Grass or Bushes to Reveal Water
                        CB88-653E
                        308A-604E
                        D48A-601E
                        3C8A-60CE
Not terribly useful, but one swipe allows to you swim in all the connecting grass

I would please like to request a "X-Ray Vision" Game Genie code that will let you see what is in a treasure chest before opening it for (SNES) Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Watching this video made me think of maybe you could make this as a cheat code for (SNES) The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. The cheat code request is "Ability To Turn While Using The Pegasus Boots".
