Thanks for the map references, I've updated the above and included a cheat for the diving bombing insects. I found the "dragon seahorses" but nothing seems to come out of their mouths - I can see their throats blow out but that's it. Hopefully one of the other cheats will sort it out for you (let me know)

Alright, I've tested the new codes, but the seahorses were still barfing flames at me, so I can only guess you ran into some unrelated glitch -- I've had it happen in normal gameplay with no codes at all. You may be glad to know, though, that their flames passed right through me harmlessly, so that's covered. Sure enough, it's the arcing shot code that does it. Same goes for all the attacks of both mini-bosses, though I didn't think to test which codes were in effect there.
Just as I guessed, Mother Brain herself appears to inflict a unique type of contact damage, and the metroids can still try to drain me. Those appear to be the only two remaining hazards. Rinkas (the little flame rings), the lasers in Mother Brain's corridor, and the zebetite are all impotent -- the last of which I'm guessing is really just more ordinary "lava" like all the rest.
There's really no reason at all to bother with those unless you really want an airtight series of codes. if you do, I assume you know where to find the metroids and Mother Brain, but in case it's been a while, Tourian (the last area of the game) is basically the entire top-left corner of the map. Access to it is beyond the pair of mini-boss statues at the top of the first vertical shaft area, but of course you'd have to defeat both mini-bosses to extend the bridge. Once you ride the elevator after the statues, it's a straight path to the end.
Thanks for going to so much trouble. I really couldn't have had better results if I were paying for it.

Thanks for pointing out where to find the stuff that helps a lot, my biggest obstacle in making cheats is always understanding the game. Anyway I've now added the last two collisions to the Invincibility cheat above so hopefully that should all be good.
Crossing the bridge was just a matter of using the the following sets of 2 codes but turning them off when I'd got across. The Walk across Gaps cheat makes the escape a bit easier too.
Walk through Walls:CAUTION! Only use this on scrolling screens, if the main sprite reaches the edge of the screen go NO further as you will effectively hang the game. If there's a door to leave a screen use it as the same thing will happen if you don't

Walking through walls and over pits!? That's cheating!
I think that does it. I can't think of any other hazards in the game. It's no wonder nobody else came up with a singular code of this kind. You'd have to daisy chain 4 Game Genies together to be invincible on a real NES.
It's funny what you can notice when you have the luxury of playing a game without the need to focus on survival. Until recently, it had never occurred to me that there are no powerups in any of the mini-boss hideouts. There are missile tanks and energy tanks, but no actual new abilities to be found there; only in Crateria and the part of Norfair before Ridley's hideout.
Likewise, until playing with these new codes, it may have never become apparent to me that all of the chozo statues only face right. It may not sound like a big deal, but knowing that can give you a significant clue about the layout of the map. Since they only face right, it means they'll always be at the end of tunnels that go to the left, so when traveling up and down shafts, you know the doors on the left might sometimes lead to chozo items, but doors on the right never will -- at least not directly. It wouldn't be too hard to stumble on the second ice beam or the high jump boots when entering from the left and bombing through a secret passage under the statues.
Thanks again to everybody for all the quick and friendly replies, and to you, Pugsy, for chipping away at it until you arrived at the perfect formula. I was very pleased to offer my meager assistance.
Just now I climbed inside Mother Brain's tank with her, face-to-face, completely indignant and unharmed -- and I pumped her full of missiles as fast my arm cannon would fire. It felt liberating and equitable after being terrorized by this game for the last 25 years or so.

I'm glad I could help, I enjoy making cheats even if I don't often enjoy the games themselves. It always nice to get so much good feedback on cheats, most of the time there's almost no feedback at all (or even a simple thanks). It's always nice to know that the work is appreciated and used.Pugsy's MAME Cheat Page : http://mamecheat.co.uk
