I had a fair degree of trouble with a few things in Brandish 2's Fortress level, mostly dealing in order of events and inadequate instructions.
On Fortress 2, there's a door that will say it's 'Magically Sealed' if you try to use a Master Key in it. Come back to this door when you're done with Fortress 3, I believe. It could allow you in earlier, but I think not.
For Fortress 6, there's a plaque on the wall telling you the 3 items you need when fighting Big Dipper for the armor of the same name (called Sol Armor in the only available guide). When you have them, get the enemy off it's pedestal, put the 'Slab' where the enemy would be, 'use' the water on it when it's there, then fight the enemy. When it transforms, 'use' the cane on the slab. This isn't exactly obvious as the required order of events and placement of items, or at least it wasn't to me by the time I decided I was too tired to continue playing.
So far, I haven't really had much trouble beyond the usual wondering how things need to happen to get to the next event flag. Some of my confusion was even by design, which is actually rather reassuring considering the game wasn't designed with the English language in mind.
