Naive question: Where is the Codes forum? I've been looking for Legend of Zelda (1986) game genie codes. Thanks

Those glowing light ball enemies in the dungeons (see photo), when they hit you it disables your sword for a brief period of time. For some reason on the ROM I'm playing it (via JNES...btw is this a good emulator? What would you say the best NES emulator is?) the sword frequently doesn't become available again, and I have to battle my way via arrows and bombs. I'm currently on Second Quest's Dungeon 7. Do you think a code might be necessary to switch off that enemy's ability to disable the sword? It isn't possible to avoid hitting them -- there are too many of them.

              Legend of Zelda.nes

              Code:
Sword is not disabled from enemy attacks
              SPVEGGSA

Sword stays disabled from enemy attacks for a as long as possible

Sounds like a terrible emulator. I'd switch to fceuxd. I don't know if it's the best but it's been around a long time and it has really good code options and emulation.

Thanks, MathUser and Nensondubois! I've been using JNES lately. I had FCEU at some point. Do they update it much? Thanks

I'm using version 2.2.3 - That might be the latest. Worx fine on Windows 7. (64 bit)

(Had probs with all versions on Windows 10.)
I come from a smart family...In the Civil War, my great-grandpa fought for the WEST.

I downloaded fceuxdsp. It includes a TON of different files and I don't know which one is the actual program. :|

Would you (anyone in this thread) recommend that top version? FCE Ultra. They have a long list of different emulators. http://emu-russia.net/en/files/emus/nes/

get fceuxdsp from romhacking.net. It's the most up to date. As for finding out what file starts the emulator. Look for a file with the exe extension at the end of the file name.

[code request] Is there a code that will allow Link to explore below the boundaries of the overworld WITHOUT being "reset" to the beginning? I can already get to the bottom with IZLZZZ. I just need a code that prevents the "start-screen reset". Recently on YouTube, someone hacked the ROM of the original Legend of Zelda so that he could explore the overworld BELOW the bottom, calling it Zelda Minus Worlds (others calling it LowRule). With this code, we'd be able to freely explore this area too, paired with IZLZZZ (and SZYZNL for infinite bombs to help). Thanks.
