  • [PSX]Resident Evil 2 PAL-E codes request

As the title suggests, I'd like some codes for the PAL-English version of RE2. I've been told this is the place to ask.
    [SLES-00972] CD1
    [SLES-10972] CD2

Here are some codes that I'd specifically like:
Always Have Backpack Equipped (CD2, Claire)
    Quick Save Access (Both CD's)
Makes Game Think You Never Saved (Both CD's)

The rest are not that important. Thanks in advance.

    Hmm...

I don't have the PAL version of the game, but there's likely a simple, fairly consistent memory address offset between the two versions. If we could establish this offset (we'd need a few codes that were hacked for both the NTSC and PAL versions, to compare), we could either hack the codes for the NTSC version, and convert them to work for the PAL version, or, if they've already been hacked for the NTSC version, we could simply convert them immediately.

I could do some looking around (or someone else could) when I get the chance, and see if I can find these things, or, if you'd like to speed the response to your request, you could do the footwork for me

(NTSC to NTSC) Health code to code you looking for. find the differences (offset).
(PAL to PAL) Health code plus offset equal to code you want

here some codes but they be converted

      Leon UK (XP)
      http://www.gshi.org/?s=bsfree2&sys=1&gid=453

      Claire UK (XP)
      http://www.gshi.org/?s=bsfree2&sys=1&gid=709

you can use this program to port codes (USA to PAL) and converts to XP to GS
      Majestic_Porter.zip
lee4 Does Not Accept Codes Requests !
When lee4 asks a question it does not mean lee4 will look at your game

Ah, I forgot to check BSFree

Yeah, my Majestic Porter will convert from XP/GB to GS (though it doesn't support a few specific code types yet). misfire actually cracked those encryptions, by the way (Parasyte provided some information concerning the 7K scheme, I believe).

I've discussed this matter with lee4 a bit, he also went with the offset thingy, but instead he took the PAL values from a different code type. I was trying the whole NTSC to PAL thing but some codes had different offsets for some reason which put me off completely. I'll post the NTSC versions of the specific codes I want anyhow.

          Always Have Backpack Equipped
          [NTSC] CD2, Claire
          800CC9EC 0001

          Quick Save Access
          [NTSC] CD1, Leon

          800CC5C8 E5B0
          D00C646C 0000 (Joker Address)

          [NTSC] CD2, Claire
          D00C6234 0000 (Joker Address)
          800CC390 E534
          D00C6234 0000 (Joker Address)

Makes Game Think You Never Saved

          [NTSC] CD2, Claire
          800CC5B8 0000

Here are some PAL and NTSC codes that both have been hacked.

          [NTSC] CD1, Leon
          Infinite Health
          800C7E7A 00C8
          Always Have Backpack
          800CC9EC 0001
          Quick Chest Access
          D00C646C 0000 (Joker Address)
          800CDC80 0001

          [PAL] CD1, Leon
          Infinite Health
          800C794A 00FF
          Always Have Backpack
          800CC4BC 0001
          Quick Chest Access
          D00C5F3C 0000 (Joker Address)
          800CD750 0001

          [NTSC] CD2, Claire
          Infinite Health
          800C7C42 00C8
          Quick Chest Access
          D00C6234 0000 (Joker Address)
          800CDA48 0001

          [PAL] CD2, Claire
          Infinite Health
          800C78E2 00FF
          Quick Chest Access
          D00C5EDC 0000 (Joker Address)
          800CD6E8 0001

Edit: I can't access the UK cheats? Nothing shows up, it just says "Processed in 0.00703597068787 seconds. Fuck rune. That is all."

Edit2: Using Majestic Porter, I'm not sure what to enter in the offset box? Is it supposed to be in hex? If so, how can I get the hex value? It's kinda new to me, when I was working on the offset, I just used one digit at a time, say an example:

          Always Have Backpack Leon NTSC
          800CC9EC 0001
          Always Have Backpack Leon PAL
          800CC4BC 0001

Here I took the 9 from the NTSC code, went forward with 11, that gave me the value 4, the E from NTSC I went forward with 13, that gave me a B, the C was either 0 or 16 so it stayed the same. This is how I converted most codes and the values 11/13/0 worked for most codes on the last 3 digits, sometimes the 4th last digit had to be altered and for that I backed 1 or went forward 15. This way worked for most of Leon's codes, but only for 1 or 2 of Claires codes. I used different offset numbers for Claire of course.

As for determining offsets, simply open a calculator that works in hex (the Windows calculator, in Scientific mode, for example), and subtract the smaller number from the larger number. The difference (offset) is what you would paste into the Offset box in MP.

As for actually converting (I believe GB [GameBuster] codes are just XP [XPloder] codes), you'll need to go to Tools in MP, and open the Xploder Decryption sub-app. I could, however, be wrong about GameBuster using XPloder codes...in any case, the codes you posted are not XP codes, so we don't have to deal with decryption/conversion. Just solve for an offset (or I will, when I return from work later).

Bleh, I figured I'd just take care of it for you before I returned to work, heh.

Offset between NTSC Leon and PAL Leon is -530 (so you'd paste negative 530, or -530, into the Offset box in MP). Offset between NTSC Claire and PAL Claire is -360. Let me know if that works for other codes.

OK, I tried doing exactly that earlier, but apparently I got the wrong value in the 3rd last digit, I got a 3 instead of a 4, but I did ofc try with a 4 there incase I did something wrong. It didn't work. This was because I had the last digit wrong also, instead of keeping my old formula I changed it so I got 800CC354 with the first one, then changed and ended up with 800CC45C.. Of course the correct value was 800CC454.

Thanks for the help LZ and lee4. From here on I might be able to get most of the codes myself.

Edit: I was busy calculating the offsets, (hadn't updated page so didn't see your post) I got the same values as you had posted that I just saw when I started typing this, and so far they have checked out for the codes I have tried.

                So thanks again.

Edit2: The offset for Claire didn't check out for the Joker command, it returned the wrong value, it gave me D00C5ED4 but the code is actually D00C5EDC, I'm not sure what is wrong there? I'll see if it checks out on the rest, else I will try adding the 8 in the last digit on those that didn't work.

Edit3: It appears that the Quick Save Access freezes/crashes the game for both CD's, could one of you confirm that I have the right PAL codes?

                D00C646C 0000
                800CC5CA 8004

                Offset -530

                [PAL]CD1, Leon
                D00C5F3C 0000
                800CC098 E5B0
                D00C5F3C 0000
                800CC09A 8004

                [NTSC]CD2, Claire
                D00C6234 0000
                800CC390 E534
                D00C6234 0000
                800CC392 8004

                Offset -360

                [PAL]CD2, Claire
                D00C5ED4 0000
                800CC030 E534
                D00C5ED4 0000
                800CC032 8004

As you see it returns the wrong Joker Address, but I guess that doesn't matter that much. Replacing the 4 with a C is the correct value. So after doing that it should be the correct address in my opinion, executing it will freeze the game as mentioned.
Not sure why the offset for the Joker is -358 btw..

According to the Xploder Code Decryption app, the second lines of each PAL codes are wrong, Leon's second line should be 800CC098 E2AC and Claire's should be 800CC030 E294. The application was correct, the codes now worked.

OK, I have gotten all the codes I want working now. Thanks to this I even managed to calculate the Joker Command for another game, Parasite Eve 2 PAL-E, which I have been searching for but not found anywhere for about 2 months.

So I thank you, Lazy Bastard and lee4 for all the help you've provided.

No problem. I'll add these offsets to the list on the wiki when I get around to it (a link to it can be found in the GSHI.org Library). What was the offset between Parasite Eve 2 PAL-E and NTSC?

                          It was NTSC + 1088 = PAL

I also took the time to check the offset for Dino Crisis PAL-E from NTSC and it was +4A8 from NTSC to PAL-E, only tested on 2 codes and they worked.
