Does anyone have any Codes for this game like

    Enable Dip Swithes

  • #2
I can definitely see why you would want to skip unlocking it since you would have to complete the game with all those characters, but have you tried using a save file? With a save I believe you only need to enter the button code to access it:

    http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/drea...ve/458569.html

You can download saves through Dreamcast web browsers or software like this:

    http://bswirl.kitsunet.org/vmutool/r...t/?lg=en&menu=

Not saying this to discourage anyone from looking for the code (I'll even give it a try), just offering some alternative solutions that you might like. Good luck!

nah, in order to do it is by beating the game with every character with out using a continue and I'm not sure if you have to beat it on the hardest difficulty.

I keep thinking I'm getting close to finding this but when I freeze certain values in the RAM it doesn't seem to effect my ability to get to the dipswitches menu when I have a blank save.

I'm also having trouble differentiating between addresses for the emulator and the actual game. I found something that I was "sure was correct" but I was just looking at addresses that kept track of the buttons I was holding.

Maybe the game just looks to see if you have the required number of "wins", so actually clearing it the traditional way over time and searching for an increased number each time would be best. That would take a LONG time however and I would definitely need to get a gamepad hooked up for some high octane Street Fighter action. I've been trying to just search for an increased and decreased value after loading a save and resetting without it but I haven't been too lucky with that.

I really don't know, I'm such an amateur at this, but hopefully I'll find SOMETHING that you can use.

well you could find a health modifier for the player 2 and make it so 1 hit will kill him and make your health infinite, then beat the game with a few characters each time doing a greater then search till you get some addresses you can play around with.

Very good idea, just started doing that. Thanks!

The only problem now is it appears that there may be a value for each fighter "winning", like a flag for each. I'm hoping maybe I can get a save with ALL the fighters cleared except for one and then check out the differences in values.

I wonder if there would be any way to figure it out from just looking at the save files? Surely beyond my ability but maybe someone else has messed with something like that?

Here is the decrypted address for use with other cheat devices:

                        Address: 002D5724
                        Value: FFFFFFFF

The method you outlined worked really well, I should have used that from the beginning.

Basically, I had Chankast and Cheat Engine running. I started with an unknown value across ALL RAM addresses instead of trying to guess where the 16 MB RAM range was like I had in the past.

Then I used some previously found cheats for health and timer reduction to make arcade mode much easier. I had a hotkey for setting the timer to 0 (because if it's frozen at 0 it's just like infinite time) and would watch the window and hit it every now and then so I could passively do other things.

Each time I beat the game I just searched for an increased value, just like you said. I ended up with about 8 or so and through trial and error I figured out the correct address. Then I had to use "Chankast Cheater" to get the base address and subtract that from my Cheat Engine find to get the REAL Dreamcast RAM address. Then I used DCCrypt to encrypt them for a genuine CDX Gameshark.

At first I only got a partial solution when I put it in the real Gameshark. Instead of a DIP switches menu I get a screen that looked like the selection screen except with some World Warriors greyed out and others in color. I think this is a legitimate screen that you see when you're getting close to beating the game and it fills in Warriors as you beat arcade mode with them.

I then realized that I had seen similar behavior in using the earlier of the 8 addresses I had found, so I needed to offset things properly. That's when I remembered this snippet from the ChankastCheater text file:

if you have found a cheat at address "01D613EC" than you must decreased this valve by the base-address, e.g.
                              found cheat-address is "01D613EC", decreased by "001B90000" is "001D13EC"
                              "001D13EC" is a right 8bit-codebreaker-address (is the "Ikaruga P1 Infinity Life"-code)
                              "011D13EC" is a right 16bit-codebreaker-address
                              "021D13EC" is a right 32bit-codebreaker-address
So I wasn't sure what kinds of addresses the Gameshark took, so I tried the 16 bit version first by adding 1000000 to my address before encrypting. Didn't work, so I tried the "32-bit" version. Apparently that is correct for CDX codes, because after that the DIP switch menu appeared just like it should!

I hope retrogamer finds it useful. And thanks again for the method, helder! I had actually tried doing it earlier but I was also searching in a certain memory address range (which I thought was the proper 16 MB of Dreamcast RAM) so I came up with some worthless values. That's why I thought there were flags for each character, but I was probably just looking at something related specifically to Chankast. After you made that post I was inspired to try again, so many thanks!
