  • [N64] The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time (U) v1.0

I guess I should hack more than one code for an entire thread, but here's something to get started:

Press L for turbo boost; release to return to normal

    D01C84B5 0020
    801DB258 0041
    D01C84B5 0020
    801DB25A 4000

When you hold L, Link will burst forward, faster than anything in the game. You could clear Hyrule Field in a few seconds, run past Fido when he blocks you in the beginning of the game...whatever your heart desires.

More to come, thanks to Viper187's Mupen with built-in Renegade

    Block Dialogue Sequences

    801D887C 0022

I was actually hacking for a way to always allow you to skip through dialogues (sometimes, particularly with that bastard owl, you have to actually sit through the slow, boring dialogue, and there's no way to skip through it), but came across a modifier for dialogue status (playing an ocarina, text scrolling, window popping up, etc). Still, I managed to find a value that pretty much does what I wanted anyway. With this on, you'll hear a bell sound every time a dialogue is initiated, and the dialogue will be automatically skipped. If you're in a cut scene, the events in the cut scene will still have to occur, so you'll have to wait that out. Let me know if you find any other useful/interesting values.

Ack, looking at BSFree, it turns out SubDrag already hacked the first (80) line of code for the Turbo Burst code. The second line is important, as it both increases speed and makes the code more stable, but I can't take credit for the code in its entirety, heh.

That happens to me often, and I end up feeling like a jerk not noticing it.
For Kingdom Hearts RE: Chain Of Memories, I didn't notice AR Max had already found the same codes to unlock all of the things in your journal. I just noticed that a few days ago.
For Fatal Frame 3, I didn't know Chaoszage had found and ported the same exact codes I did, and he must have did that over a year ago. I just found that out a few days ago.
I didn't know gameshark.com found the same official difficulty codes for Silent Hill 2 that I did. They found them a few months before me.
I can't even remember how many times it has happened, or if I have even corrected all of them.

It's kind of hard to go through and find the codes.

The Codejunkies website is very unfriendly to my slow dialup connection, so at times it can take me over an hour just to go from the search page to the page with codes for a game, and then the whole page won't even load so I only get about 15 of the codes and give up.

Gameshark.com is too bad to my connection, but it's still slow and can take around 10 minutes to get to the next page. Codetwink is fast, takes about a minute to get from one page to another.

It's also hard to search through some threads for codes that might have already been made. At the codemasters-project forums, some of those threads for codes become incredibly huge. There's a Final Fantasy game thread that's over 80 pages long. Thank god I don't own the game so I don't need to take all day looking through that huge thread to check and make sure that I'm not trying to make a code that already exists.

Heh, I know the feeling. We really need to get around to adding the CMP codes to the GSHI database, so everyone can browse them easily, at least until CMP's new database is finished, now that we've been given the OK to do so.

But, that's a lot of work, heh.

Looking at BSFree, it seems that Parasyte has hacked almost all of the really interesting codes that I wanted to hack, heh.

Still, I have a few ideas. Looking at what's already done (which tells me a little about how OoT works), I believe it would be feasible to hack a sprite control mod, as well as a graphic mod for Link (ie, Play As Anyone). There are also a few little ideas I have here and there, and I'm sure there's plenty left to be thought up, given the chance.
