Hey guys I'm in need of a good genesis emulator for hacking,I have gens hacking versions mk1 and mk2 but they dont have the newer features like the newer gens that allow you to play roms that in older gens versions gave you the red screen of death.I tried MESS but couldnt even run the damn thing would prefer non-DOS emulator and NO gens+ isnt a great hacking emu as it only allows to search for known values.

I will sent you a PM with a hacked version of Gens that has a search engine build-in. It's like the one from snes9x.
BTW, hazemd is not for DOS, it's just a win32 emu without any gui, so it's only command line. If you want you can use MESS, but make sure to not get the 125u3, for some reason the cheat engine of MAME (and that also affect directly MESS) is being changed a lot."Dizzy my future, silly my way."

Thanks for the PM but that is the mk1 that i have and there is a newer one mk2 which i have as well I can pass it along to you if ya want, but these gens have that problem from the red screen,I had this problem trying to play the street fighter 2 game in the other thread, but on newer gens it started fine.As for MESS its a command line aka DOS emulator,i went to a site that stated such, hazemd never heard or tryed it.Any other good genesis emulator with such search functions like the ones we have (mk1/2)?Attached FilesLast edited by Helder; 05-31-2008, 12:19:43 AM.Spoiler Alert! I'm afraid those are the only genesis emulators with such search function. Except MESS and HAZEMD.
You can try to enable "Fix Checksum" in the Misc section in Options. That should fix the red screen.
But a red screen should be a ROM problem or a cheat issue. I downloaded the gens mk2 you attached there (thing I forget to do) and it run all the street fighter games without problem without trying any fix.
Other than that, I can't help.
BTW, MESS is not command line, it has an ui interface like the one at MAMEUI. Or if you like it more, it has an interface as MAME32.
Hazemd is based on MAME and so it's command line.Last edited by VisitntX; 05-31-2008, 12:45:32 AM."Dizzy my future, silly my way."

That should be the reason of the Red Screen. It seems the emu recalculate the checksum and change the execution of a good game and so it breaks. Tried the game with the Fix Checksum enabled and the error was reproduced. Disabling the Fix Checksum option make the game workable."Dizzy my future, silly my way."
