  • A thought about Mario RPG hacking

I was checking out the Mario RPG codes today for some reason, and I got to thinking. Noone ever made a code to make all hits timed properly. Like regular attacks do more damage if you push (A) at the right time, and all specials are similar. The thing with Mario's jumps was hacked (any chance of modding the damage multiplier?), along with the timing on the Geno Whirl, but noone's done the rest. I never got into much SNES assembly, so it's not really something I could hack. I just wanted to throw it out there for any other diehard fans of the game.

If someone is really bored, maybe they could look into why the game crashes if the chefs at Marrymore are killed. There's like 1 attack that does damage to them even though they're not supposed to die. Stupid bug on Squaresoft's part. heheh

Normal Attacks Do Timed Attack Damage

    Normal Attacks Are Timed Attacks
    C2C8E61A

Some Special Attacks Do Timed Attack Damage:
(Geno's Geno Beam, Geno Blast, Geno Flash)
    ?

(Mario's Jump, Mallow's HP Rain, Shocker, Bowser's Crusher, Toadstool's Therapy)
    C2CB241A

(Mario's Fire Orb, Super Jump, Super Flare) (This should also give you 99 super jumps)
    C2CBEE1A

    (Mario's Ultra Jump, Ultra Flare)
    C2CC5A1A

    (Mallow's Thunderbolt, Toadstool's Group Hug)
    C2CD341A

(Toadstool's Sleepy Time/Mute Hits All Enemies)
    C2CD4380

    (Toadstool's Come Back)
    C2CDB81A

(Bowser's Bowser Crush, Toadstool's Psych Bomb Do Max Damage)
    C2CDF980
    C2CDFF00

    (Geno's Geno Boost)
    C2CF381A

    (Geno's Geno Whirl)
    C2CF791A

(Mallow's Snowy, Bowser's Terrorize, Poison Gas Do Max Damage)
    C2CE7780
    C2CE7D00

    (Mallow's Psycopathy)
    C2CFD81A

(Mallow's Star Rain Does 17 Hits)
    C2CFF51A

Beware, this is a hack job, and I didn't test them fully. For this reason, I'm not tossing them into the database until they can really be confirmed, and possibly have the other specials finished. I'm sure they'll be in someone's update, but it's rather idiotic to put these anywhere but the forums just now.
This reality is mine. Go hallucinate your own.
