Adventure Island II (Gameboy) question

I get to the very last boss (the UFO) and my game freezes and I have to close it out. There are a couple points throughout the game where this has happened. They are bonus sequences. You get to these when you break an egg that has a key inside. The bonus sequences in question involve a dinosaur asking you if you want to save your progress or something...I'm not quite sure what, since the game freezes. Thats no big deal since I save a lot as a go along, and I avoid the eggs containing the keys that would take me to those errors. But this end error is crucial :P I use the VisualBoyAdvance emulator. Anybody have any ideas?
