  • Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land (Gameboy) question

Is there a code that lets you retain your coins if you die?

    http://www.gshi.org/?s=v2&sys=10&gid=1611

The "coin modifier" code...that's not it, is it? I'm guessing this code makes each coin worth X instead of 1.

    Thanks,
    Ryan

That coin mod is to always have the coins, even if you die. In the ?? you can put a value that you want to.

You don't retain coins if you die, or exit the level normally. Since you exit the level when you die, this would be a big bit of reprogramming.
This reality is mine. Go hallucinate your own.

With a GS you can retain the coins. In genesis is not so hard, they usually used a clr instruction to clear the values of an address when a level start. Dunno in gameboy.

why not pause and press select 15-16 times to get to the debug menu?

For me the coin modifier code keeps your coinage amount at one figure. So if you put '20' in place of the '??', you'll have 20 coins, no matter what you do. Get as many coins as you want in a level -- that figure doesn't go up. But then if I make the figure '99' and get a coin, my coinage jumps to 199, the with another coin to 299, etc, up to 999 coins.

BTW, I am stuck on course 30, the end of the SS Tea Cup ship area. As soon as I start the level I find myself stuck inside a wall. I attached an image of what it looks like.

O.O Woa... You are fucked. Coin wise i always use the debug menu on that game. There is really no need for a Gameshark, Action Pro Replay or Game Genie code. With the debug cheat you can modify your lives, hearts, coins and special ability.

Or he could hack a quick coordinate mod, and put himself outside of the wall. Come on, Mir...think outside the blocks

True.... But wouldn't that be kinda difficult?

As for getting coins the Debug is the best.

Coordinate mods are among the easiest codes to hack, especially in a 2D game. What I usually do is (using X [horizontal] coordinate as an example):

                          Perform an initial dump.
                          Return to the game.
                          Move to the right.
Perform a Different To Last search.
                          Return to the game.
                          Do nothing.
Perform an Equal To Last search.
                          Return to the game.
                          Jump/move up or down.
Perform an Equal To Last search.

And so forth. You could gamble by trying Greater Than Last or Less Than Last searches for movements, which would give you half the addresses to look through at a time, but you run a 50% chance of having to perform the entire search process twice, heh.
                          I may be lazy, but I can...zzzZZZzzzZZZzzzZZZ...
