    Thats a crock of shit, Magic gate was cracked over a year ago... about 6 months for the ps2 dump code was released. Bsically this thing is going to be like a USB Action Replay cause it needs a disc to boot the memory card. Like the original doggles that Gameshark used to use when Interact owned the name.

      I'm sure you've heard of the Independence Exploit, by Marcus R Brown, which exploited a flaw in the IOP to produce a buffer overflow, and allowed a user to run code directly from the memory card, with any real PSX disc...if Magic Gate were indeed properly broken (which I still doubt), it wouldn't be difficult to achieve a similar result.

      Could you give a link to the code you're referring to?

          ...I don't understand what you just said.

          EVO boots emulators because it has its own, properly pressed boot disc. Launching an ELF that emulates a console is nothing special at all, aside from the impressive act of having an emulator designed/modified for that purpose. Datel having launched an emu has nothing to do with Magic Gate...

            Something interesting to take note of, is that the "AR Max Memory Card" devices, don't actually need any software to run. They have a processor labeled something to the effect of "GateCrasher" as an interface between the PS2 expecting something with MagicGate, and the generic flash memory the card has. It's quite reasonable to expect that somebody else may have duplicated the needed actions that chip handles.

              That's interesting...however, the AR software (on the PS2-bootable disc) should be able to read data from a memory card without bypassing Magic Gate. From what I understand, Magic Gate is only an authentication system to control what the PS2 itself directly reads/executes, not what is accessed through the PS2 memcard port. Though, if we're to assume that all the other companies that've made 3rd-party memory cards have also bypassed MG, or that Datel wasn't given what other 3rd party companies were, it's quite possible they did bypass Magic Gate. Can you dig anything up on "GateCrasher", or whatever it was exactly called?

                    GM0: With a proper, PS2-bootable disc, I can use any memory card I like, and run any homebrew code I want to. How does crashing Magic Gate benefit the process of running homebrew code, if you're using a PS2-bootable disc already?

                      EVo used the magic code to boot up the emu's from the disc, research the scene and you will find the file's im reffering to

                        The dongle is insidethe memory cards sold by Interact and Datel, ever taken one apart?

                          I have. Both, even. The Interact one required a disc to be booted for the console to cooperate with the fake memory card, but the Datel one works exactly (though be it considerably slower) as a normal Sony memory card.

                            GM0: Are you saying that every 3rd party memory card has a method by which to crash Magic Gate?

                            Otherwise, why am I able to run homebrew code, to include emulators, with a bootable disc and any memory card I like?
