Thanks a lot for filling some of my code requests.

Ganbare Daiku no Gensan (Hammerin' Harry) is one of my favortie games for the SNES (and the NES too).

I will think of some more SNES games that need codes. You pretty much covered all of the Genesis games I like that needed codes, but I'm sure there are more.

Hi VisitntX,

are these true Game Genie codes that would work in a real Game Genie?

The reason I ask is beacause I patch all of my roms permenantly with codes so I can use them on the SNES-Station emulator for the Playstation 2 (just like the Genesis emulator). Now I have been using the Classic Cheat Code Game Patcher found on the GSHI site with your Sega Genesis codes, and it works perfectly.

Trying it with the SNES codes it tells me it patched the games fine, but the codes do not have any effect or the game does not start, etc. The only game that worked with codes so far is Super Shadow of the Beast.

Interesting. These are true game genie codes that would work in a real game genie, except for those that says that aren't tested in real hardware, they will not work with the patcher. What happens with the snes roms is that when patching you have to know if is lorom or hirom, that's what i read a time ago. But never test it, nor never patch them. The emulator doesn't let you use gg codes without patching the roms? That should be better. I will see if i find more information about that.

Ok, I went to the page of Tony Hedstrom, he wrote some tutorial about writing to the snes roms, and i was right, you need to know if the rom is lorom hirom and header. But he wrote a guide to do it without caring about those things. I read it and basically it's a very likely the method I use to make the PC-Engine hacks and patches.

I will explain it a little, what you need is to know some consecutive values to search with an hex program in the rom. In the pc you have to use zsnes so it will convert gg to "par". Load the rom, access the cheat window, and add a game genie.
In ZSNES you will see the address and the PV and CV. Look the PV and write it down. And then add three or four more consecutive values, so if the address of the gg is 810A01 you have to add 810A02 810A03 810A04. For each of those just add the value you want. And write down the PV in order, from 810A01 ro 810A04.
Open the rom in your hex program, and search for all the PV you get, remember they have to be in order. And then change it for the CV of the gg you entered to start this thing.
Ready, I'm suck at trying to write these things. Better read it from the Tony page, he explain it hell lot better than me.

Now, there is another way to do it. You need the Geiger's Snes9x Debugger. It's the snes9x build made by geiger that has the debugger. I will use in this example the Final Fight (U) game and the Invincibility code i made.
01. Open the emulator.
02. Load the rom.
03. [It will appears the debugger window.] Press Run in the debugger window.
04. Go back to the main emulator window.
05. Press: Alt+E
06. Enter any GG code you want to change. [The invincibility code for Final Fight will be converted to Address: 02A706, Value: D0. It will appears as: 02A706D0 in the enter cheat code region.] The GG should be disabled, or this will not work. Remembet, DISABLE the CODE.
07. Copy the Address of the GG now converted: 02A706.
08. Return to the debugger window.
09. Push "Disassemble" button.
10. In Start Address put the one you copied: 02A706.
11. In End Address put 4 or five address after the one in Start: 02A70A.
12. Push OK button.
13. Now look what the window shows:
$02/A706 F0 06
$02/A708 C6 0F
$02/A70A D0 02
14. Copy only F0 06 C6 0F D0 02. This has to be in the correct order, the one showed by the Disassemble button.
15. Close the emulator.
16. Open your Hex editor. I will put Ultraedit like an example.
17. Load the rom there.
18. Press: Ctrl+F.
19. In Find What: F0 06 C6 0F D0 02
20. Press Find Next button.
21. It will show in this example: AE 20 56 AE A5 0F F0 06 C6 0F D0 02 64 3A A5 74
22. Change F0 for D0. Here you have to change it to the same value showed the snes9x when the gg was entered. Remember: 02A706D0, the value there is D0.
23. Save it.
24. End
