  • Spider-Man Vs. The Kingpin Sega CD...

Since Damin Mance proved it was possible to make Game Genie codes for the Sega CD (He hacked codes for the CD version of Batman Returns), I was wondering if somebody could hack me an Infinite Health code for the Sega CD version of "The Amazing Spider-Man Vs. The Kingpin"?

And I think Gens is the emulator that will let you run Game Genie with the Sega CD?

Yep, it's indeed possible to create codes for this game. I remember playing this game about a year ago, and hacking a couple codes for it (Infinite Health and whatnot). Problem is, they're not in Game Genie form (PAR codes actually). I'll hunt around my records and see if I can convert them for you (or re-hack them) in my spare time.

Gens technically isn't the only emulator that can do this, as I'm in possession of a unreleased emulator that can create/use PAR codes as well as Game Genie codes with the Sega CD. With this emulator, I was able to hack some nice codes for Sonic CD a little over a year ago.

Also, a determining factor about Sega CD codes is, most games use Word RAM, while a handful uses Genesis RAM. What this means is basically, games that use Genesis RAM are easier to hack with consistent codes. I'm not saying it's impossible, it's just really tricky to do.

PAR codes are fine, actually. As long as they work.

The game is hard as Hell, I tell you. I mean, I'm not the best gamer around, but Doc Ock kills me in no time flat. Even on easy mode.

Blah. I just noticed the version of this game I have is the European version. I'll download the US version next month (when I get broadband), and hack the living hell out of it.

In the meantime, if you have the US version of Sonic CD, try these out in Gens (to see if they do work or not)...

        Sonic CD (U):

        FF1508:0009 Infinite Lives
        FF1516:0000 Infinite Time
        FF151F:0001 Invincibility
        FF1589:0001 Enable Debug Mode
        FF0F20:7F00 Have 1 Time Stone
        FF0F20:0101 Have 2 Time Stones
        FF0F20:0302 Have 3 Time Stones
        FF0F20:0703 Have 4 Time Stones
        FF0F20:0F04 Have 5 Time Stones
        FF0F20:1F05 Have 6 Time Stones
        FF0F20:7F00 Have All 7 Time Stones/Good Futures
        FF1513:0001 Always Have 1 Ring
        FF1513:0032 Always Have 50 Rings
        FF1513:0064 Always Have 100 Rings
        FF151E:0001 Always Have Shield
*NOTE* It may look like the code isn't working, but the shield is there. Just get hit.

Most of these codes are over a year old too.

Tested the Sonic CD codes on Gens v2.14, and they don't work. Which is exactly what I expected of Gens. Pretty likely that if you dropped the FF at the beginning, the codes would actually work on the Xbox port of Gens, which uses a decent cheat engine and is already known to have codes working with Sega CD games.

Interestingly, I just checked and I have the European version as well. Go figure!
