  • [request for hack] Sega Genesis Rock n' Roll Racing Hack v16 Alpha 12 MD1 Fix

    Hello i am new here. i didn't know where to put forward a hack request but i saw a few posts here so i am making mine here as well. To clarify i use kega emulator and use game genie codes.
    on the codes site a lot of hacks for this modded version of this rom exist but what i specifically was interested in was a player character select mod which is available in the codes section for the original version . maybe with that it would be possible to select boss characters rip and shred as well. or a type of stat editor to change a players speed acceleration cornering or jumping.
    i tried cheat engine with the string option but it lead nowhere. would be much appreciated if anyone can fill this request.

      like on an actual console ? could you give me some pointers at least on how to find the code for the player select?

        It is common for modded games to use the same RAM addresses as the original ROM for most things. If there is a RAM address for player select in the original/unmodded game, then this tool might help:

          thank you. some of the codes for the original games are in raw format is it possible to change them to game genie format and then port them? i tried a game genie encoder decoder but that didn't work properly

            If the raw code begins with "FFxxxx", that means it's a RAM address. While there is no way to directly convert a RAM code into A Game Genie code, the first program I linked to above will try and make a Game Genie code for you from a RAM address. If the raw code doesn't begin with FF, or if there is a Game Genie code, using the second program I linked to will try and port the code over for you.

              first i tried porting codes which are already given in game genie format but they don't work as it says match not found, maybe the modded version has been edited a lot. i tied using game genie converter to convert hex(raw) to game genie but it would accept that game genie code as valid either.
              here is the code i wanted to port

              FFB96A: 00?? i changed the question marks to 00 since they represent which character you would get. i also tried modding the stats and finding a code for that but no luck

                  Since you're using Kega, it has a built-in cheat code finder (for RAM addresses). Searching for the character RAM address should be pretty straight forward. I've never played the hacked version, so not sure how character selection works, but each character has a different value. You can start by using the values in the db for the original game, and see if they are the same for the hacked version. You just highlight a specific character, and then use Kega to search for the specific value for that character, then switch to a different character and search for the value for that character. Should only take one or two tries to find the RAM address.

                    thanks ill give the code finder a try. it has many options so ill go with he state option since i am highlighting and changing characters. Also the hacked version is more like a mod to add features to the game ie characters cars etc and some characters stats have changed as well as compared to the original game so maybe that's why porting the original codes didnt work

                      yes the real console if I looking for a code for the player select to select bosses I would be addeding codes and looking at the player select screen in till the game freeze cause then I would know what code to use so I can fix it

                        well i gave it a try on code finder a few times and it was unsuccessful, i guess its above my skillset for now :/ hopefully someone will fill it out cuz its a really enjoyable game
