  • [Request] Steel Talons (USA, Europe) (Genesis) - Stop In-Game Timer - Game Genie Code

I would like to request a code to stop the in-game timer for each mission. You'd either pass or fail each stage depending on how long you take. The clock is at the bottom-left side of the HUD.

The timer in-game I think may just be for show. But try these codes, let me know if it works.

Unfortunately I couldn't get either code to work (separately and together) on both my Game Genie cartridge and the emulator I was using. The top code causes the screen to be mostly zoomed-in (even when the option is turned off) and your helicopter to be off-center.

Though as it turns out, you were right about the clock being pretty much just for show. I was under the impression that failing a mission too many times would cause a Game Over. I did two runs of the game (failing every mission and beating the time limit in each mission) and I was able to play all missions regardless of the clock. The only difference is that passing every mission in the game gets you a "badge" for doing a good job at the end screen.

I didn't, however, beat every mission under the Ace time limit (which is a real challenge considering the nasty low frame-rate the game runs at). I don't think I could do that even with Infinite Energy and Missiles turned on. I can't find a single full playthrough of this version of the game anywhere, so I have absolutely no idea what happens when you do manage to complete the Ace time limit challenge (though I would probably guess just another "bonus" Congrats screen rather than like, a extra mission to play or something).

So, if you're still interested in continuing to make a "Stop Timer" code for me, then I would absolutely try them out and then possibly playthrough the game again so I could see what happens when you beat every mission under the Ace time limit. If not, then I totally understand. I beat the game twice. That's good enough for me.
