  • {DONE!} [Request] Sub-Terrania (USA) (Genesis) - Infinite Fuel - Game Genie Code

Hi, I saw that there's currently a Raw code for Infinite Fuel in the database and I was hoping if someone could convert that into a Game Genie code for me so I could try it out on the actual cartridge, or if there's a way to condense the "3 No Fuel Loss" GG codes into just one code instead of having 3 separate ones? Thank you.

    Raw:
Infinite Fuel by Rune - FF5ED4:0063

    Game Genie:
No extra fuel loss from flying backward by Galoob - B5KT-RA42
No extra fuel loss from flying forward by Galoob - B5KA-RA8E
No fuel loss from idling by Galoob - DVRB-CA46

There is no way to directly convert a raw/RAM code into a Game Genie code, but you can use the RAM address to help you make a Game Genie code(s). I haven't looked, but it's probably safe to say that you won't be able to get a single Game Genie code for infinite fuel, but there is another possibility. If the game has it so that you start every level with the same amount of fuel, one might be able to make a "Start every level with more fuel" code. You could just make it an insanely high value so that you would have plenty of fuel. Does the game show the amount of fuel as a number, or as a bar/gauge type of thing? Does it seem like every level starts with the same amount of fuel?

      Ohhh oops, I see.

And yes, there's a red bar/gauge at the top that shows you how much fuel you have and it goes down quicker the more often you use your thrusters (the game wants you to take advantage of the gravity to save on fuel). The fuel bar also resets at the start of each level.

So if there is a way to make it so you have a ton of fuel or make it so the bar diminishes at a much slower rate, then I would absolutely appreciate having a code for that.

I should also point out that having all 3 "No Fuel Loss" Game Genie codes turned on does indeed give you "infinite fuel" in a way, but it also takes up 3 of the 5 slots available on an actual Game Genie cartridge, so it doesn't give you much room for other codes. The game unfortunately doesn't have a save/password system without the use of a cheat add-on, so a Stage Select code would take up another one or two slots.

I remember the 5 code limit on the Game Genie very well. Will take a look at it tomorrow.

This seems to work with a single code. This lets you start with 4x more fuel, and it also seems to work if you lose a life. I haven't tested it to see if it works on any other levels though, so let me know. Can go even higher if you want.

          XBXV-CADE
Start with 4x as much fuel.

EDIT: Just an FYI, the fuel gauge looks the same length when you use the code, but it takes a looong time before it starts to go down.

Okay, I had tested it on my Game Genie and played the first 2 levels and it works wonderfully! I don't think I noticed it going down at all after flying around for a bit, so it'll definitely last for a long time. It's exactly what I needed.

The only issue I ran into so far is a cosmetic one, where bits of the red bar cover the score and weapon select icons in the bottom left corner (though some of it goes away whenever you pick up a weapon, the score changes, etc.).

It doesn't really bother me though, and it could be from my Game Genie just being old (I haven't tested it on an emulator so I don't know if it'll do the same thing), but hey, it works well. Thank you!

Glad to hear the code worked. Here are a couple new codes to try that may solve the cosmetic issue you were having. This is basically the same code, but with a lower value for fuel.

              KVXV-CADE
Always start with twice as much fuel.

              RKXV-CADE
Always start with 3x as much fuel.

Let me know if either of those solves the problem.

Wish I can help make codes for this game but I don't have it for the real hardware.

Okay, so I had just beaten the game with the codes all the way through (as well as trying out the 3 fuel codes on an emulator for a bit).

While none of the codes fixed the cosmetic issue I was having on both the actual console and the emulator I was using, I did notice that the lesser Fuel codes didn't show as many of those scattered red bars as the 4x Fuel code. But I also noticed something even more interesting! It turns out that all 3 Fuel codes were instead actually giving me Infinite Fuel too! Which was what I had requested for originally. The red bar NEVER went down no matter how long I was flying around for nor did it matter what level I played next or if I lost a life or picked up more fuel and etc. It never went down for anything. It helped me out tremendously.

So yeah basically, with only minor graphical glitches, all of the 3 Fuel codes you provided me work out as separate Infinite Fuel codes (with the 2x Fuel code having the least of those scattered red bars at the bottom). Thanks a lot for your time and work. Much appreciated!

Glad it worked out. Really appreciate you testing out the codes and reporting back the outcome.
