  • Code Request Bosconian in Namco Museum Vol 1 on PS1

I would appreciate if someone could hack an invincibility code for Bosconian, part of Namco Museum Vol 1 on the PS1. For those unfamiliar with the game, your task is to destroy a series of enemy space stations in each stage. These stations are usually scattered far apart and far from where you spawn upon starting each stage, so you have to travel some distance to reach them. Along the way, you've got enemy fighters to contend with and the stations themselves also have weapons that they can use to fire back at you.

I know about the various infinite lives codes available here and elsewhere. However, they are no help. In Bosconian, the further you get in the game, the more and more enemies and other obstacles it throws at you. It quickly becomes impossible to avoid getting killed. What's worse, each time you die, you re-spawn back at the stage's original spawn point and have to travel all the way back to where you were before dying. It doesn't take all that long for the game to become completely unplayable do to how often you are getting killed and how far you have to travel to get to the space stations you need to destroy.

The only effective way to make progress in this game is with invincibility. So someone, please hack an invincibility code for me.

    Try this ...
    Code:
    Invisiblility (Test)
    D00825FF 000C
    300825FF 0000

Sorry I haven't commented on the code you posted denben0487. I have been somewhat preoccupied since I initially posted my code request. I did take the time to test the code and found that it doesn't work. I wasn't able to test the code in Bosconian itself, it prevented Namco Museum the main game from even loading. The main game froze before even getting to the start screen. I would like to test it again with some modifications if possible. Can you modify the code so I have to hold down the R2 button for it to be in effect? It would be prefferable if the effect was there when the R2 button is held down and disappears when the button is released.

I forgot to say that the code was made for the US version (SLUS_002.15 v.1.1). What version of the game do you have. You can provide a link to download your disk image, this will simplify the task ...

I have the US NTSC version of the Greatest Hits edition of the game. I am not sure what you mean by a link to download a disk image. I am not familiar with hacker terminology and have no clue what a disk image is or how to make one. I have added a link to a photo of my game disk and it's case.

            Try this...
            Code:
Invisiblility (Press R2 On Main Screen Bosconian)
            D0007572 FDFD
            300825FF 0000
If it doesn't work (since I didn't understand that the emulator gave the value to the Joker), then try ...
            Code:
Invisiblility (Press R2 On Main Screen Bosconian)
            D0007572 FDFF
            300825FF 0000
After clicking and starting the main game, the plane should become invulnerable. But this code cannot be disabled yet, although, to be honest, I have not figured out whether it is possible to reset it and restart it during the game ...

I watched the youtube video you linked to. Despite the code seeming to work for you, it still hasn't worked for me. I suspect the reason why has to do with the differences between how you tested the code and how I am testing it on my end. It looks like you tested the code on a copy of the game that you were emulating on a computer, I am guessing using a ROM. I on the other hand am testing it with an actual physical Playstation 1 CD on a Playstation 2. It also looks like you tested the code with a hacking program while I am testing with a physical Gameshark CD, in this case Gameshark version 4.11.

I have tried pressing R2 on the main start sreen of Bosconian (the one where your video says "Press R2 now" or something along that line. I have also tried holding down the R@ button when starting the game. In all tests, the code has had no effect what so ever. The moment my fighter hits anything that can normally destroy it, it gets blown up and I lose a life. I am starting to think that this code will never work on my end.
