Help/advice for ColEm emulator, please...

I cannot get the ColEm emu to work on my PC. It's Windows 7, 64-bit. I can get the Colecovision screen to appear, but it won't load a game. When I try, it simply displays a window saying "failed loading file".
I have my roms in a "roms" file within the Colem folder, & I made sure they're in the .col extension.(Experimented with .zip &.rar extensions, to no avail.)
Likely something simple i'm failing to do. Any help or advice will be appreciated!
