How do you get Game Genie codes to work on bsnes v107?

I can use action replay codes as those work, but the Game Genie codes are not responding. with action replay for example it goes like this on the recent Bsnes 7E1FB4=02

When I do use Game Genie cheat codes and type it the correct way like this 5E8A-1FBC, oddly the recent Bsnes cannot detect the code.
