  • (request) codes for Street Fighter II'Plus (MD) MAP2TO3

    game genie code to map all moves with 3 button presses to only 2

    example:

    Zangief lariat: LP+MP+HP ---> LP+MP or HP+MP or LP+HP
    Balrog flip LK+MK+HK ---> LK+MK or HK+MK or LK+HK
    etc..

    this feature is already present in the Super version (MD)
    or some arcade emulator like Callus

    thanks^_^

    I've never been able to figure out how the inputs work in this game. I can usually get in the right area of the ROM for a move I'm trying to modify inputs for, but I don't know what to modify. Anyway, messing around I found this code:

    Street Fighter II' - Special Champion Edition (USA) (Genesis)

    PTZT-EA4J Turbo Vega's Backflip is performed like Champion Edition Vega's Backflip (Tap Back, Back instead of pressing all 3 Punch Buttons)
    REZT-E6WJ Champion Edition Vega's Backflip is performed like Turbo Vega's Backflip (Press all 3 Punch Buttons instead of tapping Back, Back)

      Flameskies , Zangief's Punch and Kick Lariats already only require that you press two punch buttons simultaneously or two kick buttons simultaneously to perform the move in SF2SCE and SSF2 for the Genesis and SF2T and SSF2 for the SNES.

      Edit: I see that it's only the US version of Street Fighter II Special Champion Edition that requires only two punch buttons or two kick buttons to be pressed to perform Zangief's lariats. You have to press three punch buttons or kick buttons in the Japanese version.

      I'll see if I can make a code for the Japanese version that only requires two punch or kick buttons to be pressed for Zangief's lariats.

        REGT-E6W2 Zangief's Lariats can be performed by simultaneously pressing two punch or two kick buttons, like the USA and European versions (2 of 2)

            The only hint I can give you is do a read breakpoint on RAM address $FF81DE during the match. But if you're not familiar with how the character data is stored in the ROM, it won't be very helpful.

            What other moves did you want to change the input for? Vega's Backflip and Dhalsim's Teleport are the only other moves that require you to press all 3 punch or kick buttons.

            With Vega's Backflip I can modify it to be 2 punch buttons, but it has to be 2 specific punch buttons. Either LP+MP, MP+HP, or LP+HP. I can't make it be any 2 punch buttons.

                HD Remix, a remake of Super Turbo, let you charge boxer's TAP with 2 punch or 2 kick buttons, but it disabled the 3rd punch or 3rd kick button when you were charging, which was the fair thing to do.

                Anyway, the only reason I was able to make the 2-button code for Zangief's lariats was that it was already built into the game to be able to do it that way. The Genesis port was a port of the SNES port, which let you do Zangief's lariats with 2 punch or kick buttons. For some reason Capcom disabled the ability to do it with 2 buttons in the Mega Drive version. In the Genesis version you can lariat with 2 buttons.

                To modify the rest of the 3 button moves to 2 button moves would require a new routine to be written for each move you are modifying. I tried it with Vega's backflip last night and wasn't successful with it. It's something I may look at again when I have more experience.

                  Street Fighter II' - Special Champion Edition (USA) (Genesis)

                  DJZT-ER5G Turbo Vega Easier Backflip (Only have to press two punch button simulataneously, instead of all three punch buttons, to execute the move (1 of 3)
                  CTZT-ER5N Turbo Vega Easier Backflip (Only have to press two punch button simulataneously, instead of all three punch buttons, to execute the move (2 of 3)
                  B2ZT-ER5W Turbo Vega Easier Backflip (Only have to press two punch button simulataneously, instead of all three punch buttons, to execute the move (3 of 3)

                  Note I can't do this for the Japanese version because the controller routine for the backflip is different.

                        Hey, hybrid. I've been around. Posting random codes to the DB here and there. Mostly stuff for Combusto.

                        I'd really like to make it so you only have to press 2 punch or kick buttons, instead of 3, to execute Dhalsim's Yoga Teleport. And change Sagat's Tiger Knee Input to Forward, Down, Down+Forward + Kick. I was able to change Zangief's Spinning Pile Driver to a half-circle forwards or backwards:

                        ATGA-FE9N Zangief Easier Spinning Piledriver (Perform a forward or backward half circle plus any punch button) (1 of 2)
                        ATGA-FE9Y Zangief Easier Spinning Piledriver (Perform a forward or backward half circle plus any punch button) (2 of 2)
