  • Rom patchers.

Hi everyone I need experienced advice on a couple of things.

I use a lot of flash carts, sometimes emulation but mostly flash carts. I frequently use ggguy.exe gbaatm.exe but what else is there?

GGGUY supposedly works with raw codes for nes game but they never ever work. GBAATM works but sometimes causes freezing when an emulator with codes or a cart with real cheat devices does not.

CCCGP following instructions, a video showing it being done successfully etc, still enver once had worked for me. The process completes and there are no cheats in the games.

So I guess my questions are this. What else is there? Ideally I want to patch codes into nes\snes\genesis\gamegear\sms\n64 etc etc. I cant even find a way to patch N64 games with cheats. So from a total n00b any advice and programs, links, alternatives, suggestions are very very welcome!

Also, what the hell format are these PCe codes in that come included with ggguy and where can I get more or convert the ones on this site into these?

    Barunba (Japan)
    Infinite Energy (2682)
    5968:AD

    Batman (Japan)
    Infinite Lives (33AA)
    1426:AD

    Battle Lode Runner (Japan)
    Infinite Lives (2972)
    43F8:AD

The number in parenthesis after the description is the RAM address for the code. Below the description is the offset of the ROM and the value that gets patched to that offset.

      For example:

      Battle Lode Runner (Japan)
      Infinite Lives (2972)
      43F8:AD

The value at RAM Address $2972 contains the number of lives. Patching value AD to offset $43F8 gives you Infinite Lives.

None of these patchers work with RAW RAM Codes. They are only going to work with Game Genie codes and RAW ROM codes and you may have to convert the RAW ROM codes to Game Genie codes before patching them with a patcher program.

Thank you for the information! So basically these ones included are rom versions of the ram codes listed on this site? If so is there a converter or method to do so?

Basically my goal is to have a bunch of everdrives with dual copies of roms one normal and one patched with cheats. n64\pc engine etc. Wish there was a way to patch ram codes.

The only PC Engine codes that are going to be compatible with GGGuy are the codes included in the PCECodes.txt file that is included with GGGuy.

To patch them, select Hex (XXXX:XX) under System, and enter the codes you want from the PCECodes.txt file.

The same thing applies to the codes in the SMSCodes.txt file. You can also use the Master System Game Genie codes on this site with GGGuy as well.

Awesome thank you for all of the information! I have never gotten ggguy to successfully patch any game with hex cheats yet, tried nes games too.
