  • Zelda II (NES) bugs

I am playing Zelda II with JNES and it keeps acting weird. The image at the opening (with the sword and the dark sky) is vibrating and then when I get into the game, the room with Zelda asleep has a brick wall in back and nothing else is visible besides the two torches. Anybody know a way to fix this? o.o

    Thanks,
    Ryan

Also, was a new version of JNES released sometime ago or something? The Game Genie code input area in my edition is really lousy.

Try using a different emulator. Specifically, FCEUXDSP. You can enter PAR codes from the cheat window, and build/enter GG codes using a GG specific window.

Is it easy to use like JNES? The version of JNES i just put on my laptop is weird. The version I have here on my computer is 1.0 v0.6. It has a clear, concise place to enter Game Genie codes, but the program itself plays some games oddly (scrambled graphic, vibrating, etc). My laptop JNES looks like it has fewer features than the other. It plays music very differently, at least, it does with Zelda II. A number of the sound effects sound different. Not dramatically different but its definitely noticable.

        Thanks,
        Ryan

I use FCEU version 098_15 with Windows XP and it does just great. I haven't found a game that it won't play.

I had a few probs with JNES as you describe for Z2. However, it played Z2 all right.

Ya might try FCEU to see if ya like it more than JNES. Here's their site:

          http://fceultra.sourceforge.net/

Also, you can find FCEU/PAR codes on the "Codes" page on this site, including codes made & thoroughly tested by me. As Ugetab said, you can also enter Game Genie codes & you can use them at the same time you're using FCEU/PAR codes.

If you go that route, you can drag-n-drop your roms directly from JNES to FCEU(or vice versa) And this emu is easy to configure to your controller(s).

Thanks! Question -- Where can I get a ROM of the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros. 2? i.e. 'The Lost Levels'

I can't get the program to download at either of those sites. One site gives me a file type I don't know what to do with and Windows doesn't recognize.

If you're speaking of the FCEU prog, I used Winzip. In fact i use winzip as my default prog handler.

Or, try downloading it from Zophar's Domain.

I believe it's against board rules to post rom sites, but lemme suggest Googling" (name of game) rom download" to find such sites. (If it's not against rules, I'm sure a moderator will answer for you.)
