  • Can anyone hack Deus Ex: The Conspiracy (PS2), please?

The game Deus Ex: The Conspiracy (a great PS2 port of the great PC original) has some built in push button cheats, but for some reason they don't allow you to add any augmentations. In the game, as you progress through the levels, you find or are given augmentation canisters, which you use at will to add different augmentations (basically super-powers, such as invisibility, super-strength, super-speed, being able to see through walls, etc).

So it would be great if someone could create cheat codes to give you these powers at any time, or if someone could create a save game from the very beginning of the game (in this game, you can save at any time) that contained all of the augmentation canisters. You can't create a save like this legitimately, of course, as you need to go through the game to gain the cannisters, but if someone could reverse engineer a game save to find out how it stores the augmentation data, then a save game from the very beginning of the game could be edited to contain all of the canisters.

    Thanks for any answers.

It's been a long time since I played it, but did you already use the button codes to check the cheat menu? The cheat menu might give you all augmentations, but I can't remember because that's been over 10 years.

No, the cheats don't include the augmentations, for some strange reason. They do give you all of the cheat points, so you can max out any skills, but you don't get given any augs (or aug cannisters), even though I'd have thought that that augmentations would be an obvious thing to put into the cheat menu.

How long does it take to get the first augmentation in the game? I may be interested in hacking it but I'm not going to play through more than 5 mins of the game.

You can get the first aug in less than a minute, if you know what you're doing (and it helps if you cheat to become invincible, so you can ignore the hostile enemies). This means missing out on all of the weapons, items, etc that you'd want to pick up if you were playing the game properly, of course.

          This is what you do:

          1. Start the game on any skill level, and press START a couple of times to bypass the name and upgrade screens, until you start the game on the docks.

          2. Run forward then turn left, you will meet your brother Paul, just keep on pressing X until you stop talking to him.

          3. Go through the doors to leave the docks, this takes you to a toll booth, exit through the other doors.

          4. Turn right, go through the open gates and turn left. This takes you to a passage and half-way down it, you go through a hidden loading point.

          5. You're about to encounter hostiles, so you might as well cheat and put on invincibility, so press Select to bring up an objective menu. Then press the following four trigger buttons then START START START:

Left 2, Right 2, Left 1, Right 1, START, START, START

(Left 2 is the Left 2 button, of course, not move left twice, etc)

then you can select Invincible (press the Left 1 or Right 1 buttons to go through the different pages). You have to reselect the cheat every time you go through a load-point, but don't worry, you only have to press SELECT to bring up the menu, you don't have to repeat the initial push button cheat.

          6. Go right then quickly go left, so you're on a brick path and the Statue of Liberty (minus her head, which was shattered by terrorists) is on your right.

          7. Go up the path, and before you get to the wall, there on your right is a street-lamp near a large metal storage container. On the container is a data cube (a blue square), click X when looking at it, and you'll get the password. You personally don't need to remember it, as the game now treats you as knowing the password - unlike in the PC version of the game (where you have to manually type in the password) the PS2 version of the game itself enters the password when needed.

          8. Go right, to the doors that go in the building. Before you get there, on the left side of the door, on the wall before you get to the doors, there's a computer terminal (a small blue rectangle). Press X on it, log in then set:

          Door Access to Unlocked, and

          Door Status to Open.

Then go through the doors (you pass through another loading point, so re-set the invincible cheat to on) and the other doors, then you'll be in the building.

          9. In front of you on the other side of the room are some wide stairs. Go up them, and keep on going up and up until you come to some ladders.

10 Go up the ladders and talk to the terrorist boss. You might as well spare him, otherwise he'll attack, so just let him talk.

          11. To his right (your left) a blue slightly sparky cylinder is visible, this is the first aug canister. Press X on it to pick it up.

Apologies if that's not too clear.

            Hey Harry62!

If I gave you a save for this game close to where you could get one of the augmented parts so you could skip what Clockface was wanting you to do to get it, do you think you could possibly hack the "all augmentations" code?
