  • How to use codes in pnach Cheat Files

    I get my cheats from PS2 Section but when I try to use them on PCSX2 with pnach files they don't work.

    Can I please have some help to get them working?

    You can't add PS2 codes directly. You have to download a converter that turns the code into a raw code that the PS2 emu can recognize. The best one is Omniconvert.

    Bear in mind that not every code will convert to raw since cheat devices have specific functions 'inserted' in cheat codes that do not turn into proper raw codes. For example, joker commands and the such.

    After a while you'll learn to recognize which codes will convert and which won't.

      How would you know IF it turned into Proper Raw Code or Not?

      I have use Omnicovert and PCSX2SE but No Codes Work.

      I been trying to get Codes for Dragonball Z 3 Boudkai to work but none I tried to use and convert want to work

        Have you ever successfully made a pnach that worked? Maybe you're doing the process wrong.

        I don't know exactly how it works, but if the code starts with a 0/1/2 then it will probably convert just fine. If it starts with a letter or an 8/9, it will not be a valid raw code.

            Second one is a master code. You don't need to use master codes on emulators.

            The first one, notice how it starts with a letter, so it will not convert to proper raw.

              Okay. Glad I know not to use Master Codes .So you use the Action Replay/Gameshark v1 Codes to Convert?

              Will any of these Codes Work?

                I don't know. You have to convert them yourself and see. Do not use the codes that appear on the drop down list, just use the original code. In those examples, the original code is a Gameshark 3 code.

                I already told you what numbers a code should start, then use the converter to convert the codes. Make sure you select the appropriate input device and select RAW for output.

                Then make sure you are creating a correct pnach file. The best option is to download "Quick Pnach" which auto-creates the pnach file for you.

                    1) If you use Quick Pnach, you should create a proper pnach and that will avoid having one possible problem that's preventing you from having a working pnach.

                    2) Make sure you are adding the codes in the correct format (example):

                    gametitle=King of Fighters 2006, The (NTSC-U)

                    // Player 1 Energy
                    patch=1,EE,20817E7C,extended,43100000
                    The only thing you need to modify are the parts in bold. Where it says 'extended', I have seen other pnach using different terms, but sometimes the cheats don't work with other terms. Using the term 'extended' has always worked for me as long as I have a proper raw code.

                    3) Convert a proper code using omniconvert then add it to the pnach. Load the emu and make sure you have the "enable cheats" option turned on.

                          Missed That. I will give that a go.

                          Though I tried the Codes for the Greatest Hits Version:

                          http://gamehacking.org/game/113371

                          and I got those Cheats to Work. Without doing anything Different

                            If you enable the cheat and go to the game, the codes won't 'activate'. You have to reset the game or load/save a state or pause the emulator. Sometimes that makes the emulator write something new.

                              So I have to load game up then Re-Start it to Activate the Cheats?

                              That sounds bit Werid.

                              Going to get cheats for a Few Games and I see how I go with Them
