  • Ace Combat 3 codes not working (PSX)

    o.O this was certainly an interesting surprise. this game doesn't give a red screen like you would see with genesis games. it gives an error screen with some anti-piracy related message.

    i was using the codes that come with psx emulation cheater and it turns out they're all the same as those listed here. i have no idea why these codes don't work and lead to the error screen. and yes, i had the master code activated too.

    said error screen (with master, player takes no damage, and stop regular timer codes active)...well it worked this time... maybe it was the "infinite normal missiles" code? i'm not sure what set off that error message.

    edit: well, this one was significantly less impressive than the first 2 ace combat games. i mean, the whole "extremely agile, high velocity super jet" thing is neat and all but it's just not the same. i do like the HUD in this one though. that looked quite nice and the 3d compass/altimeter ring was a nice touch.

    You don't need a master code with emulators.
    Don't turn on codes as you boot up the games. Only enable them after you are playing.

      anyway, that's kinda hard to do with epsxe and psx emulation cheater since you have to click "send cheats to plugin" on psx emulation cheater then go to the video plugin on epsxe for the codes to be loaded and once a game is running you can't access any emulation settings (plugin related, memory cards, controls, etc.).

      or...can the be done while a game is running? hmmm... O_O oh my goodness...it DOES work like that. i never once thought to try that before now. i wonder if that'd work for any other games i couldn't get the codes to work with such as the perfect timing code for vagrant story (since without that code you have to carefully time your button presses to perform combos which is a pain in the rear. >.>)

      darn... i'll have to test that out later... :/ that could solve a bunch of issues i've had with psx codes here.

      edit: nope, even loading the codes after the game is running, that perfect timing code simply does not work and you still have to time the combo carefully. well, i got rid of ace combat 3 but i still have ace combat 2 (at least we in the US didn't get a trash copy of this game unlike the 3rd one). maybe the codes for ace combat 2 will work if activated after the game is running.

      *sits through lengthy UNSKIPABLE intro* ugh... don't know why they made this intro unskippable. :/ heck, the text desyncs from the audio too.

      inf fuel...no damage from touching the ground those work but either the rapid fire missile code or the infinite missile code left me unable to fire missiles at all. -_- the have "x" plane codes all work too though. don't know why these certain codes don't work.
