  • (Request) Can someone brighten up Doom 64 please?

Doom 64 (N64) is a great game, but it's too dark on many TVs, even if you crank up the brightness manually. It's not just me who thinks this, every review and player comment I can recall says the same thing, so can someone provide a patch that alters the brightness (or gamma setting, whatever the difference is) please?

I'm a PAL user, but such a patch would also be popular with NTSC users, I have no doubt.

    Thanks for any answers.

Well, truth be told, DOOM is supposed to have minimal lighting in-game, due to the horror-FPS setting (much of the game is actually spent in hell). However, to make it so dark that you can barely see your own guns, let alone the monsters charging at you, is not a really good design decision. Hardly anyone in the world can beat ANY game blindfolded (or unable to see what's occurring on-screen), so increasing the brightness and/or contrast would be a well-received patch, IMO.
    Tempus fugit, ergo, carpe diem.

Time flies, therefore, seize the day.

Light Amplification Goggles: A really useful item. When picked up, it will
brighten up the level a lot for a certain amount of time. These can be useful
for getting past dark areas, and to see where you're going most of the time
      too.

      Options - How to access:

You can get there from title screen, or you can get to it when you pause the
      game during game play.

Brightness: Use left and right on the control stick to adjust the brightness of
      the game.

Yes, I know, but you don't always have the goggles, and even with the brightness up fully, the game can be too dark on some TVs. Just look at the reviews of the game, over the years. Most of them comment on the game being too dark no matter what you do.
