No Overworld Map Arrows in DKC2

Hello, I tried playing my old Donkey Kong Country 2 on SNES but I found that the overworld map arrows are gone. I tried restarting the game but itll only let me play the first two levels then I'm stuck on level 2. Is there some sort of code that'll bring the arrows back so I can play the game?

Try cleaning the cart and erasing the save. Sounds like something is messing with the game code and could be dirty contacts.

I tried cleaning the cart but still no arrows. It happened after I was trying out different invincibility codes on game genie.

Then delete the save.

That's really odd. A code cannot modify the ROM. Either the cart/SNES is dirty, or they are damaged.
