  • [Request] Double Dragon (MD/GEN) Codes

    Hey everone, I'd like to request these codes for the game:
    -Tighter camera. It currently waits until you're nearly at the edge of the screen before moving.
    -No friendly fire. Players either can't hit each other or the hits don't hurt.

    Thanks

    By the way, if you're a fan of the game you might be interested in the links below:

    I know about that hack. They incorperated my DD (Genesis Arcade Mix) hack into it. Overall it makes for a better game.

      Give this a try. The code can easily be changed so that the screen starts to move sooner or later. Let me know if you want it adjusted.

      Double Dragon (Genesis)

      2AET-AAGE +
      2AET-AAHL
      Tighter camera. The camera starts to move just past the halfway point.

      =======

      I haven't tested it much, so not sure if it has any side effects.

      Also, your request for no friendly fire might be a tough one. I'll look into it, but I'm guessing that all players and enemies use the same routine for damage. Might be difficult to have it enabled for enemies hitting you and you hitting enemies, but turn it off for players hitting each other.

        Played through the game (GensKMod) and it works perfectly, thanks Tony.
        If you want to you could make one for when you move left as well, though it's not important. It might actually cause issues as the game never lets you move completely to the left edge of the screen, only to where the camera would start moving originally, so maybe it'll move that limit closer to the middle of the screen which would be bad.

        That makes sense about friendly fire, hope you can make it work.

        @Mathuser: It does, yeah. Now it's even better.

          Tony, can you make a code for tighter camera when walking left too? I used your codes for an update to my hack which improves double dragon and a code for tighter camera when walking left would be appreciated.

            The latest version of my hack that uses these codes can be found at the link posted. Have fun!

            Edit: Here's a couple more requests that would help make it better. Occasionally when attacking enemies it plays a louder sound. Would it be possible to make it play that sound all the time? It sounds alot closer to the sound that plays in the arcade version than what they are using now. It lacks power. Also, could the enemies duck less frequently? Sometimes you miss attacks cause the enemy ducks. So it'd be good to fix that too.

              I tried my hand at finding the code. only thing I could find was that with some enemies after their health is about half drained it makes the louder noise for every hit. Don't matter if it's a punch or a kick.It's probably take break points and stuff like that to find the code to use that sound for every hit.

                I'm going to be super busy for the next several days so won't have much time for codes. Will try to get to these next week.

                    NAET-AADY +
                    NAET-AAE4
                    Tighter camera when walking left. Also allows you to walk through the entire stage without stopping.

                    ===========

                    As before, these are completely adjustable. I made the value so that the distance roughly matches the distance when walking right (when using the other codes). If there is a better value to use, please let me know.

                    EDIT: These codes also seem to have a cool side affect... you can "back-track" just about anywhere (walk left and have the screen scroll with you).

                    Let me know if there are any problems.

                      Oh wow, it's like that when walking right too. Can you fix the screen locks too? It's funny to be able to walk through the whole stage at once but that don't make it like the arcade game, that's for sure.

                        That's probably going to require a lot of digging. Will let you know if I find anything.

                        EDIT: I'm going to add the code to the db because I think it's pretty neat to be able to walk all the way to the end of the stage.
