  • Ghost Chaser Densei (Super Famicom) PAR Problem

    Hi there,

I've had issues with Ghost Chaser Densei, while using the Pro Action Replay 1 cartridge on real hardware.
The game works fine, but it freezes, if the poke switch is on.
Could someone please help me out on this? That would be awesome.

    regards

I've had issues with my PAR on real hardware too using GG or PAR codes on any game really so it might be the cart like mine, does the PAR work with other games?

Yes, the PAR cart works perfectly with other games. I remember you've mentioned before, that such issues also occur due to the SuperCIC chip, right? Is there a master code to fix it?

Not sure if there is but it only freezes on bootup with the switch on for cheats right? You have a GG to try to see if it freezes too?

Nope, it boots up with the PAR, but if effects are switched on, it'll freeze with pixels all over the place. So the SuperCIC chip doesn't cause this I guess ?
I'm using a Pro Action Replay 1, maybe a PAR MK3 would solve the problem..? Yes, I own a GG too, but I'll need to dig out the 1992 model first.

I'll post it here, how things worked out.

          regards

OK, tested it with a Game Genie and the cheats work fine. I've also tried a Pro Action Replay MK 3, you can actually use an invincibility cheat, but accompanied by ugly graphical glitches. Better than a PAR1 for sure, but still not great. This game somehow tries to block the PAR...?

Might be where the PAR stores itself in the snes ram? Not sure if the supercic is the culprit and only way to know is using an unmodified snes.

My 1992 model is a native Japanese, it acts ecactly the same (if you're using a PAR 1 & 3) like my modded 1995 native PAL version.
That you can actually use a PAR MK3 with the game is definitely a step forward, but those graphical glitches are annoying.
Why is this game so harsh to the PAR?
