Posting other peoples codes

Is it ethically wrong to do so without consent if you give credit to the person who created it? As opposed to letting codes die forever?

I have some that work that were on the internet and now are not.

I think adding someone's codes without their permission is OK, with proper credit. However, if they request to have them removed, they should be removed. I'd say there should be an attempt to contact the author with a request first, but it can be pretty difficult to do so in the scene.

Try to ask the hacker, if you can't contact him/her post the codes but make it clear who hacked them.

It's better to host them then to let them die. There's alot of codes from the cmgsccc forums that are lost cause they never posted them. A whole lot of castlevania SOTN codes would of been lost too if I hadn't saved/posted them.

I'd say to try contacting the hacker, and if that can't be done give credit and a note that if the hacker has problems with the codes being up that they will be removed.

I'm quite certain a really ridiculous amount of codes were lost off the gsccc boards, because for one reason or another, they were never saved and put up anywhere else.
