  • Request for Sonic Labyrinth (Sega Game Gear)

    Hello!
I was wondering if anyone could make a RAW cheat code for Sonic Labyrinth that gives Infinite Rings during the Boss Stages. Thanks in advance!

I can't make Game Gear codes, but looking at the database you can find the following codes:

    Infinite Time C501:09
    Infinite Keys C504:09
    Infinite Lives C506:09

I'm willing to bet the rings code would be an address between those up there, so try: C502, C503 or C505. If those don't work, then try the same address with 7, 8, 9, A, etc.

Let me know which one works, so I can add it to the site.

Well, your plan worked! Here is the code for Infinite Rings (Boss Stages):

      C50B:88

Mind you I put in a different value because if it was 99 or higher, if you grab a ring during the Boss Stage, the game will suffer slow-down each time a ring is grabbed. But after much testing, here is the code! Thanks for the suggestion!

Now I think I'll try the same idea with Sonic CD, so maybe I can find the code I'm looking for there. Wish me the best!

But does the ring code ONLY work during boss stages or can you also use it during normal gameplay?

It works only at the boss stage, but you can leave it on during the course of the game. I didn't see any adverse reactions.

Also, I apologize, I goofed on the value. I corrected the code above.

Ok, so during the stages, the address for infinite rings is another one? Does it work like other Sonic games in which the rings are your "energy"?

Could you try the addresses and find the Infinite Rings for the stages? I'll add both codes under your credit.

If you want 99 rings, the value should be 63 (that's 99 in hex).

Sonic Labyrinth is different from the other Sonic games. The main levels don't have a Ring meter. When enemies hit you it causes the timer to decrease faster, and you lose a life when the timer reaches 0. The Boss Stages are different. The Timer is replaced by a Ring meter. You grab rings heading towards the Boss, and you lose a life if you get hit without any Rings. See what I'm saying? There was already a code for Infinite Time, but there wasn't a code for Infinite Rings during the Boss stages, hence why it was needed.

As for the value, it's best to keep it at a number lower than 99. As I've stated before, grabbing a ring during the Boss Stage causes slow-down each time a ring is grabbed. You know, the game slows down each time you get an extra life.

Ok, I have a HUGE apology to make.

The above code, as it turns out, was only a cosmetic change. It showed that I had an Infinite Number of Rings, but when I fought the boss and lost my rings on purpose, the next hit killed me. I realized then that the code needed TWO lines of code. I know this because when I tested codes, I tested four different lines of code at one time until I achieved the desired effect, then one by one I eliminated the codes until I found the right one. But the code however needed two lines of code, which I never realized up until just a little bit ago.

Well, now that my "derp" moment is over, here is the TRUE Infinite Rings (Boss Stages) code for Sonic Labyrinth:

                  C50A:09
                  C50B:09

Again, I'm sorry everybody. And thanks ReyVGM for all your help!

You sure it needs both lines? From your description it sounds like C50A is the true Ring code and the other one just visually changes the counter, also known as a "fake" code.

I'm going to change it to C50A, since having both codes would just confuse people, considering one is fake.

No no! You need both codes! C50A won't work at all by itself. And C50B only works cosmetically; you still die if you get hit twice by a boss. I admit that I haven't tested the code completely before releasing it, that was my mistake. But now I am 100% sure that with everything now tested completely, both codes are needed for it to work.
