FF IX vivi code causing problems with Dagger/Garnet/Sara name.

As the title indicates, activating the max stats enchancement code (8008B3AC 6363
8008B3AE 6363 HackMan found here) changes Dagger/Garnet/Sara's name to ÜÜÜÜarnet

Any ideas why? I am using the NTSC-U version and I am on Disk 2.
