Genesis: Sonic & Knuckles...with Sonic 1???

I'm going to try and describe this the best I can. :-[

http://emu-russia.km.ru/default.php?...en&from=S&l=en According to this, there is a ROM of Sonic & Knuckles with Sonic 1. I've never seen this before. I remember with the original Genesis cartridge, it only worked on Sonic 2 and Sonic 3. When the ROMs, you have to download them individually -- i.e. S&K with Sonic 2 or S&K with Sonic 3. Or just plain S&K. That site has an S&K with Sonic 1. Whats the story with that?

I know one of the latest Sonic games is a library of all the Sonic games put together, and it allows you to play as Knuckles in games he wasn't originally designed to play in, but seeing as how the above link is Sega Genesis ROMs (everything these days on Sony so its in CD form), how is that possible?

Just downloaded it and tried to play it. I get the "No way!" message just like with Gensis when you'd try and play Sonic 1 with Sonic & Knuckles.

The 'Sonic Compilation' ROM didn't work, either. Weird.

Yeah, thats pretty much the way that it is with genesis. Then you are supposed to press some buttons and you are able to play some sphere levels from that Sonic 3 minigame. I guess that Sega had said they wanted to put Knuckles in Sonic 1 but there was glitches and stuff that they couldn't work out before they released that S and K. If you are interested someone made a perfect rom hack of Sonic 1 that has Knuckles as the main character. It plays exactly how it would have had sega made it.

here is the deal with sonic 1 & knuckles you will see the "no way..." message scrolling across the screen then you Press A+B+C to get the password screen or you can start with level 1 there are lots of these levels i forget exactly how many..techically you can put most games on it except with other games you will not get to put in a password and be able to only play one level

Carts without the maximum number of pins won't work for that, oddly enough. I think there's something like 1 million different possible levels too, but I'm not entirely sure how they are generated.

Oh yeah, if you have just the separate games, you can just copy Sonic 1/2/3 onto the end of Sonic & Knuckles, and have the exact same effect as it would on a real system. I don't remember how to do that though...

WOW. It works! Knuckles seems as light on his feet as Sonic, too, which is sort of the opposite of his control in the S&K games. I wonder if Sonic 1 game genie codes will work on this? lol

no they do not but most codes that works for s&k sphere games do
another interesting things is that you can use the gamegenie itself on s&k and get a bonus level
