How to replicate this glitch?

Right so I went browsing for some SMW glitches and happened upon this one, any ideas on how to reproduce it with/without GS/GG codes?


Oddity: Yoshi Replaced by Chargin' Chuck

When I was much younger, I was playing Super Mario World (SNES). I was near the end of the first Forest of Illusion level, playing as Luigi. I was riding on Yoshi at the time. There were so many baddies on the screen that "slowdown" was occurring and the graphics were flickering. I know this is usually a problem on NES games, but strangely enough, it was happening here. Let me also mention that my timer was running out, so the music was sped up.
In all this confusion, I had gotten hit and knocked off Yoshi, but I jumped back on as I entered the tall pipe to the secret Key area. I don't know why, but when I arrived inside the secret chamber, Luigi was riding the freakish Chargin' Chuck thing. When I used the "tongue" command to retrieve the key, a Yoshi tongue snaked out of the helmet. Luckily, my dad had film in his camera at the time, so I got him to take some photos for me. As you can see, this happened quite some time ago!
I don't know why or how this happened, or how to duplicate the trick. Any information would be appreciated!

Looks like the yoshi sprite was replaced with the chargin' chuck sprite. One of the SNES hackers on this board should be able to create a code to do this.

I doubt anyone would make a cheat to exchange Yoshi to a Chuck unless the game was programed to do so at one point. The best you could do is make a graphics corruption code, but you never know what you're going to corrupt.

I suggest you go to tcrf.net forums (http://jul.rustedlogic.net/forum.php?id=12) and ask there since they love finding out glitches and stuff. Or search for a forum or youtube channel with people that like finding out bugs and glitches.

I was going say that happened to me once years ago when the game first came out and it was weird because the dude with the football helmet charged and hit me the instant I spit out a turtle and jumped off of Yoshi at the same time, but instead it gave me the entire graphics for that football guy to ride around and both Yoshi and the football guy vanished. I never did manage to make it happen again so I just figured it was a once in a lifetime thing that would never happen again. I did that on the first level you encounter Yoshi on.
