  • Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (special gs codes...)

    Hello.

    I need very much your help:

    I'm working in a SotN speed-run. I'll use a gs only to make easy possible things.
    I'm using a Game Shark lite (CDX).

    First, I need to solve a big problem when I use this game shark:

    *If I do a special movement with Richter I go directly to the prologue;
    *The room with the Doppleganger10 don't close when/while I fight with him (I can leave the room in the middle of the battle!!);
    *The message Long Library appear every time when I enter in the Long Library.

    If this problem can be solved I'll need these codes:

    *Venus Weed drop a Heart Refresh in the first (or all) time when I kill her;
    *Blade Soldier drop a $400 only in the first kill.

    Help me!!!

    That's quite interesting that you're having those problems. Those are some really odd ones too. You're not having those problems if you try not using the gs, right?

      Humm. Without the gs I have NO problems.

      I'm playing in a real console...

        Have you only got trouble with the game when you're using codes? Most of the times when I've seen a game do stuff that weird, it was because of some code(s) that weren't working right.

          YES.

          If I use the gs then (for any code) appear the problems!

I sat in that chair for 15 minutes and still the pixie never sang, only speaking the same Japanese phrase over and over again...
          I have this exactly problem too...

            ummmm....well, this is indeed an all 'everything is indeed relative' type thing. I mean it all in small and big ways depend on alot of things you will have to tell LMZ first so he may be able to help more.

            Things like the following....

            #0 uhhh well shall not remove, but will EDIT without editing here on my #1, I went back and read all your replies and you did say you had the GS Lite CDX....sad as is, that alone may indeed be the issue here, but depends on the code types you are using, CDX seems to NOT can handle nothing BUT C1 types, 80 types and 30 types, anything D0 or 50 types or otherwise is always 'out'....

            Also coup with that as my #2 is also, could also be your console choice.... PSOne is not great, and neither is PS2 with a CDX...but with hope, LMZ can help and maybe can figure maybe new code types to get you the same effects with your CDX.

            #1 Your GameShark version? A CDX? Or even a non-Pro version, this is and will indeed make a HUGE differance weaher some code types work well or not.

            #2 The PSX OR PSOne console version, yes it may be a true console, but is it one of those PSOne smaller versions things with a CDX? If so, sad and sorry but hec no wonder you are having issues, CDX is ONE big issue that pretty much killed interact off to start with really....

              For the console itself, it won't matter if it's a psx or a psone, they're almost identical interally. But, it might not work very well on a ps2. Nobody's really confirmed that psx disc-based cheat devices actually work on a ps2...

                heh well that is true, not much differance in the console other then one major thing (I should have said this when I was above---ehh well, sorry) and that difference is the no P/O prot for the 'good' GameSharks.

                Not to knock the CDX....after all it was made as a result of the removal of the P/O port...but I have one, Thanks to Ron, and it is fun to mess with but code wise I just must say I would not trust it.

                As for the PS2, that as LMZ said is not all clear, I rememebr when it first came out 'before CodeBreaker' there was a rush to get a CDX and sale off all the GSPro's and PSX machines, the good days to grab those which other's 'stupidly' got rid of without testing first....anyway, there once was a push and whole rush to see and even FORCE the CDX to run and work on the PS2 without any issues, but as time and PS2 games (the good ones) started comming out, seems most got fed up with even the PSX titles in most cases.

                Now now, let's understand NOT us all here, Thank God, but as the gamming world as a whole.... the PSX system and it's best (or better) cheat devices are getting 'rare' day after day...for many many reasons, mom sells Timmy's PSX system because Timmy is all into the new (almost aOLD now) PS2 system. Alot of troops in the armed forces sell and sold their game systems too (which is what and why it made it good for awhile there to be in an area full of soilders.) And mostly and sadly...well little Tommy BUSTED his PSX system, or otherwise, heck sometimes, even us careful people have issues too. (Those darn spindle hubs comming apart---I myself had to repair that and I am as neat and careful as anyone else who is, I HATE dust and anything dirty) But even mine after some darn 11 years now had it's falling apart stages and had to repair, all these reasons and others sadly make the PSX rare.

                Mess kind of like that makes myself, and sure us all wish they would keep making the mess, sure may not sale as good these days, but there is and would be some small amrket there. I do not much care for the N64----it sucks ass heh, but heck, I would buy a new Sega Master System if it were not some hundred of dollars, it would not break me, but coem on, it is not that good either. My Master System is in the attic and just one day 'stoped'....much like sadly most systems at little Timmy's and Tommy's house, getting chocolate and mess in it is not good. (yeah that is what went with mine a cousin left chocolate on the connectors and ruined it...if I were just not 14 then and worried about other mess it could have been saved---ehh that is life.

                  Thanks for the help Amy!

                  I'm playing in a PSX. The last edition of that big console. So, that port are removed. I am using a Game Shark LITE (have versions?) CDX.

                  I know nothing about solving problems with gs but I have an idea: Maybe a special new code can correct it?

                    It'd be kind of tricky to duplicate the exact problems your having, but it might be possible. I've got a gs cdx 4.0 disc (that I downloaded, heh) and I'll see if it does what you're having trouble with on an emulator. I can't promise I'll find anything, for one thing, I don't know if the cdx will even emulate.

                      Use the ??? Doesn't Crash Game codes to stop from skipping the prologue. Or don't use any of Richters special moves and just jump and attack. What is happening when you do a special move during the prologue is that Richter is dying, but he can't die during that part so it just jumps right into the regular game.

                        Yes! How I don't saw that before! If I use a gs code in the middle of the game playing as Richter and do a special movement Richter die!!

                        I used no special moves, defeated Dracula and I still have that problems (The room with the Doppleganger10 don't close when/while I fight with him (I can leave the room in the middle of the battle!!);
                        *The message Long Library appear every time when I enter in the Long Library.
                        )

                        Tonight I'll test your code to "Doesn't crash game".

                        Very helpfull!

                          I don't know how to solve those other problems with the door not closing and the Long Library dialogue. It must be the effect of a code. So I spose you should try toggling off some codes and see what code is doing that. And if you leave the first room in Long library fast enough the title will continue reappearing until you sit around long enough for it to dissapear.

                            Yes! You solved the first ploblem. With this code I can use special movements with Richter without problems!

                            About the message (Long Library). I enter in the Library only using a library card (I am not using a code to have Library cards...). So I pass in the spot (who load the "Long Library" message-near the door) going of the LEFT to the RIGHT.

                            To solve the Doppleganger10 problem I tried can fight Doppleganger10 code: Nope. The problem still here...

                            If possible, go to this battle without using any gs code and see a little thing: If you enter in this room (where the Doppleganger10 is in) the barrier will close the room immediatly. All other bosses are different---> You need some distance then a barrier will close the room.

                            I think this is the reason of why this bad thing occur only in this fight!

                              While yor problems are rather strange... I'd just like to know why you want to use codes for a speedrun. You do know that cheating in a skill related thing like a speedrun isn't really a good idea. I mean, if you intend to submit it anywhere, it's never going to be accepted. And if you want to do a tool assisted run of the game why not wait for recording support for the psx emulators to get finished. That way you won't need codes and the run will look better than anything you could ever produce in real time.

                              I guess I'm just wondering what you plan to DO with this "speedrun" when/if you finish it.
