  • Can any N64 hacker consider making these hacks (for Conker's Bad Fur Day), please?

Conker's Bad Fur Day, on the N64, is my third favourite game of all time, not so much due to the single player game (which has a lot to recommend it, it has to be said), but because of one of it's multiplayer game modes, War: Colors (or Colours, if you want to spell it the English way ).

When you select multiplayer (go through the bar to the cellar, in the introductory menu, which is like an old fashioned English pub), select War, then select Colors to play. War: Colors is a two team capture the flag style game, with only one map, but it is absolutely superb and endlessly replayable (to me, at least - I have hammered it against the bots for nearly fifteen years now, and I never get tired of it, hence why CBFD is such a firm favourite of mine). One of the great things about it is that you define the class you play in by the weapon you pick up (you can only carry one weapon at a time, when you pick up another then the one you were holding just disappears), so you can change your class at will, just pick up the relevant weapon. For example, the Katana (sword) lets you jump higher, fall farther, and stops you from appearing on the enemy's RADAR, the bazooka makes you move really slow and can't jump, etc. The classes are very basic, mainly just altering your speed and jumping ability, but it's a very simple system that works well.

But there are two changes I'd love to see to the War: Colors mode, and these are:

    1. In War: Colors, the game is third person, except when you press the Right Shoulder Button, at which point it becomes first person (for aiming) until you release the Right Shoulder Button, when of course it goes back to third person view.

Would it be possible to modify the game so that pressing the Right Shoulder Button toggles the first and third person view, so that the player doesn't have to hold down the Right Shoulder Button all of the time? Or if that's not possible, would it be possible to make it so that pressing the Right Shoulder Button switches to first person view, and pressing the Left Shoulder Button reverts back to third person view?

And if anyone does managed to do this, then can you add the hack to a rom file (preferably European, please) as I can't use a Gameshark since I'm using an Everdrive 64.

Note: If anyone does make such a patch for the rom, then it doesn't matter if it doesn't work with the single player mode (or even if it crashes single player mode), as of course I'll use an unmodifed rom for single player. Actually, as long as it works in just the Colours multiplayer mode (Total War: Colours) then that would be great, as that's mainly what I want.

    2. During the game (War: Colors), when either side wins a point, then the game restarts with both sets of players re-spawning in their own side of the map. What I'd love, though, was if the game could be hacked so that when either side scores a point, then the human player does not re-spawn at his own base, but instead stays where he is, with the weapon he is carrying. This is because it can be annoying when you've made it to a good camping spot on the map, with a good weapon, and you want to stay there, but when a side scores, then you're automatically re-spawned back on your own side of the map (in your base), and you are stripped of your weapon. So if possible, can someone please hack the game so that when the characters (human and NPC) are reset after someone captures the flag, that the human stays where he is, with the weapon he is currently carrying.

Actually (and yes, I am asking a lot, I know ) if possible, could two different hacks be created; (1) one where only the human player stays where he is on the map, with his current weapon, and (2) where all of the players, human and NPC stay where they are with their current weapons. The latter would be fantastic, I think, as the game would basically be continuing from the moment after the point was scored.

    Thanks for reading.
